Roger TV has updated with new work and a slick new website. And I am a sucker for big huge photos of scary bears. Awesome incarnate.

New reel from Motherland. I love the coffee-drinking bookend. There is more than a little truth in that.
Thanks for the email guys.
From the Hoop is a 3D Short directed by 3 students from Supinfocom Arles.
The story was inspired by the life of Earl Manigault, a basketball player who lost everything in drugs. Near the end of his life he dedicated his time to helping children of Harlem avoid the same fate. It was during this time that he started the “Walk Away From Drugs” tournament for kids. He died in 1998 from a heart failure.
The storyline in the actual film very non-linear and I think it is meant to be more of an abstract subjective interpretation of Manigault’s personal struggle with his inner-demons. It’s a beautiful little short though and the color and animation are really great for a student film. Impressive work. You can learn a little more about the project at the official website as well.
‘YOU WILL BE INCORPORATED!’
“An award-winning portrait of corporate culture run amok in which a single executive recruits an army of clones to attack, behead and ‘incorporate’ an old money industrialist. The film features an aggressive, stellar musical composition by Jim Guthrie. This is the first pixel film by SUPERBROTHERS.”

There is some super slick motion/animation/3d work in the portfolio of Agency Collective. Really beautiful imagery with serious attention to detail.
Mathieu Gérard created “Steel Life” for his master thesis at Arts et Technologies de l’Image. There isn’t really a tangible narrative to the film. It is more a work of abstract realism utilizing imagery inspired by nature.
The soundtrack, composed by Mathieu Alvado and performed by the Star Pop Orchestra, is really amazing and does a lot of work to create a really compellingly grand sense of scope and drama. As an abstract piece, it is really beautiful.
The film will be screened at this year’s F5. festival (I so wish I could be there).
You can also check out the inner-workings in Gérard’s making-of film.

For more info on the band (who really kick ass) you can go here. Might I suggest a little iTunes download perhaps?
This is their latest video for “No One Does It Like You,” produced by the Directors Bureau, directed by Patrick Daughters and Marcel Dzama, and featuring costumes and sets designed by Dzama. The video recently premiered at MoMA on March 24 as part of the PopRally event “No One Does It Like You.”
Sebastien LABAN emailed me today to let me know about a 3D animated short-film project he and his wife, Virginie GOYONS (why the capitalized last names [I don’t know]) have been working on in their spare time entitled, ‘Meet Meline’. They have released a trailer for the film that you can view above and in my opinion it looks amazing.
Christopher Hewitt (formerly of Dstrukt) has started a new film and animation studio titled ‘Bearfight‘. Keep your eyes peeled for future work. Chris is really good.
I was really impressed by this on several levels.
New single from N.A.S.A. featuring Kanye West, Santigold and Lykke Li. The video was directed, animated and produced by Three Legged Legs. There are some good moments on the album but overall it is kind of ho hum. Just my opinion though.

Really cool little short film. Expertly done.
There are some nice updates in the motion design portfolio of Tala Design.
“CG Work inspired by the images of the electronic microscopes.
3ds Max animation with Scanline Render and After Effects for the composition.
CG Work & composition by Leandro Salerno”
Wow, ‘Please Say Something’ is unlike anything I have seen out there in a while. It has a style and narrative all it’s own. The story is loosely based around a troubled relationship between a cat and mouse in the distant future. The short film was the winner of the Golden Bear for best short film at the 2009 Berlinale. Please Say Something was written, directed & produced by David OReilly.
Freestyle Collective have relaunched their site and this time they mean business.
