This is the latest video for Röyksopp’s ‘This Must Be It’ courtesy of Filip and Andreas Nilsson. My only question is: Whatever happened to that skinny little dude who starts crawling up the hillside? Where did he end up?

I worked on a teeny tiny little project with Laundry a long way back. It’s great to see them doing some haute new work.

This is the latest video for Major Lazer’s new single ‘Keep It Goin’ Louder’.
Here is a little extra background I received about the making of the video:
“Jason Miller directed the live action out in the states and sent across all the raw footage, Ferry, who has done all the illustration so far for Major Lazer got in touch, and together we completed the animation at Trunk. The look of the video was inspired by those washed out horror movies you used to sit and watch time and time again on VHS, so the footage and animation were composited with this in mind, and then de-saturated in the grade.”

This is a really beautiful song and there is a genuine beauty to the video as well. It is definitely a touch psychedelic, but the tone is kept dreamy and surreal enough to make it commercially palatable (beautiful commercial art).

It’s kind of like someone threw a crazy math sci-fi geometry halloween theme party and handed out some mad hatter acid tabs. I do love the vocals though. Who said Wasilla, Alaska’s only export was Sarah Palin anyway? Portugal. The Man is fine by me, even though they still ended up escaping to Portland.

Band of Skulls is worth checking out if you haven’t yet heard their music. You should be able to gather that from the two sensational examples above.
This is just a really great video for a really great song. There isn’t much more you can say than that. Once again, stop motion reigns supreme in 2009 and this is probably one of the year’s best examples. The art direction is top notch. Beautiful work.

This is an oldie but goodie directed by Zac Ella & Rob Flowers for The Broken Hearts single ‘Black Cat’. It’s a good jam and a good video.
I am a little late on this one but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t share this beautifully art directed video from Fever Ray (the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife) for the single ‘Triangle Walks’. The video was directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson.
If you haven’t picked up a copy of Major Lazer’s album ‘Guns Don’t Kill People Lazers Do!’, you might want to reconsider after peeping this pretty sweet little video.

Someone passed this along via email to me this morning and although the video isn’t really something crazy effects driven, I did enjoy the tune. You can pick up a copy of the single here from Phantasy Sound.

Wow. This is wild. The colors, motion and art direction are all just wild. Can we officially call 2009 the year of stop motion yet?
