Apparently this is a teaser for a full length animated feature. It looks pretty amazing and is being released by Blacklight Movies and is being produced by Guillaume Ivernel. Wow.

“‘Plum Flower Deer’ began in 2009. Originally intended as a piece for F5, a design festival in New York, but was never competed and was not screened there. The film grew and became a rumination about love, hope, the natural world and rebirth.
Crush art director, Yoho Hang Yue, and his wife Queenie, also an art director, developed the story about a pair of Plum Flower Deer, (native to parts of China), who are separated by an act of man but are rejoined in spirit. The Plum Flower Deer is one of the most auspicious, divine animals in Chinese culture. The Plum Flower Tree itself has been the subject of innumerable paintings and poems, representing courage and elegance. The film drew on Chinese tradition, and art. The film’s closing poem, by 12th century Southern Song Dynasty Chinese poet Lu You, tells of the rebirth of spring and the courage of the plum flower through winter.
‘We wanted to bring this story to life using modern tools, but we wanted to keep the timelessness of the poem intact,’ says Yoho Yang Yue. ‘It is an ageless story that draws on the rich legacy of Chinese culture.’
The film took two years to complete and to create it Yoho used After Effects, Cinema 4D and shot elements to create this moving painting. Crush contacted Didier Tovel at Apollo Studios in Toronto to create a score and sound design that captured the mood of the visuals. The score takes its cues from traditional Chinese music without falling becoming a shallow pastiche, and still maintains a contemporary feel.”

Our friends at ‘Friends of Mine‘ who we have collaborated and worked with in the past have updated their website and rebranded themselves. We have always enjoyed working with them, and even though we are all running different studios here in Denver we maintain close relationships with our brothers in arms here and consider them good friends. So we were super excited to see they have been cranking out some great work lately and their new website looks wonderful. Congratulations guys and we look forward to working with you more in the future.
Chris Harmon was remembering all the way back to what seemed like forever ago last year when a massive oil spill drenched the sea with an absolutely unforgivable amount of sludge. How quickly we forget. After uncovering a bit of data fueled by that memory (pun intended) Harmon decided to create this animation to help detail just how addicted to oil we really are.

“I shot a photo roughly every two miles between take-off in San Francisco and landing in Paris CDG to make this airplane time lapse.”
Lifelongfriendshipsociety, whom I’ve worked with in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, have updated both with a new website and reel to reflect their efforts in 2010 and 2011. From all appearances it seems they are still totally kicking ass, having a damn good time doing it and still being the quirky, fun and genuinely creative people that they are.

At first I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this low-fi animation titled ‘Orpheus’ Pony’ by Michael Fragstein but then it sunk in just how much is actually going on in it and how truly psychedelic it really is, then I was hooked. Bizarre but good.
