There are just so many nice prints in the Keep Calm Gallery that I want them all. The problem is the American dollar is garbage right now compared to the pound. So if you happen to be one of the lucky few in the UK or Europe you might want to drop in and pick up something for your wall.

Sarah Featherstone’s cutting-edge green home has already sold for a record-breaking £7.2million, or $14.2million in the sadly declining U.S. dollar. The home is known as the Orchid House and is one of the key homes in the U.K. on the Lower Mill Estate, a project to turn a disused gravel pit into a 450-acre nature reserve.
The home apparently aims to generate more energy than it consumes, making use of geothermal heating. I think it’s a great idea and will no doubt be a stunning piece of architecture when it is completed, especially when considering the organic design along with the use laminated veneer lumber but what is the point of experimenting with sustainable design like this if it is only ever going to be accessible to the super rich? Build some sustainable homes that middle class people can live in for a change.
You can read more about the project at Inhabit.

There is some interesting work going on at Panday Yoghurt, not to mention the weirdest name I have heard in quite a while.

Recent Liverpool John Moores University graduate, Matt Keers sent a note the other day alerting me to his tastefully minimal yet entirely modern body of work.

There is some good stuff going on at The Lardo, which is the studio of East London-based designer Rob Cordiner. Rob is guided by a passion for craft, typography and fine coffee. He sounds like a kindred spirit.
He spent most of the past 12 months working in the London office of The Ebeling Group. In March of 2008 he moved on taking his experience and pouring it into his own studio.
Rob is currently seeking projects and commissions. If you are in need of a good designer visit his site and drop him a line.

Sanderson Bob calls himself a ‘lone wolf graphic designer’. I can relate to that. He studied at St. Martins and shortly thereafter secured work for a music magazine in Amsterdam. He then went on to do a stint at The Designers Republic (one of my all time favorite agencies). Apparently not happy there, he then moved on to London where he put time in at both Big Active and then Weiden and Kennedy. I didn’t think it was possible for one person to work at almost every agency that I would give my right arm to work for but I guess I was wrong. After this star-studded path, Bob decided to go solo.
Since then he has capped off projects for Nike, Orange and Microsoft. He prefers to do things his own way and he loves what he does. It sounds to me like his lightening is just to hot to be bottled. Good for you Bob, go get ’em.

Young aspiring UK-based illustrator Craig Shields established Surpy in 2007 to house his work and ideas. The work is trendy but charged with color and energy. The above piece shows some real attention to detail with typography as well.

Adam Tickle founded Cultural Domain (great name) in 2003 to work closely with clients within the UK music industry.
I am sure by now you have seen the above image several times on FFFFound.

I am surprised I haven’t written about Un.titled before. I have mentioned some of the people who work for them in previous posts. Un.titled is a creative agency in the UK comprised of an eclectic group of thinkers, designers, developers and artists.
They just updated their website and it is full of great design work.

Sea Design just relaunched their website. I have been a fan of their work for a while. I sought them out after seeing the first cover of Grafik Magazine. They subsist mostly on minimal design and have produced some stunningly clean typography. You can view some of their work on their website but the real nugget, and trust me it is worth your time, is in the downloadable PDF’s under their about section. Take the time to download them and look through them because there is some gorgeous graphic design waiting to inspire you.

David Foldvari is another Illustrator/Artist that I believe I may have written about on the previous version of my blog. Regardless, I can’t really seem to get enough of his work no matter how often I see it. His skill at combining images with symbolic undertones to create something that becomes forever lodged in the back room of the psyche is unparalleled. He ups the anti by creating most of those images in black and white, almost like a dream. He is an artist who isn’t afraid to show his strokes either and that is always nice for computer jockeys like me. He is based out of North London and apparently hasn’t had a lot of time to tend to his website, he does have a blog however where you can view more of his work in progress. This should come as no surprise either when considering the rest of their roster. He is represented by Big Active.

Ah what a way to die. It doesn’t sound bad really. Death By Color is the work of Michael Lonergan, who in his own words is a ‘northern graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, astronomist, Japanese anime addict, online gaming junkie, science fiction nerd, starwars geek, jedi master, British-born” young man. Well, go easy on yourself there Mike because you have some great work in your book.
