Tyson Ibele has released his reel for 2009 and it is packed with jaw-dropping 3D CGI animation and effects. Every moving image is just gorgeous and artfully crafted down to the very finest detail. Beautiful and imaginative work.

NASA (North America South America) Project’s latest video “A Volta,” was produced by Santa Monica-based motion/animation/direction house Logan. The video was inspired by the artwork of The Date Farmers and takes place in an ultraviolent upside down world of insanity populated by criminals, prostitutes and drug lords.
Hey wait, that kind of sounds like this world.
NSFW (if people at your work get upset by the ‘F’ word and lego people doing drugs and getting it on).
The video for The Emperor’s Machine – Kananana is a music video come Science Fiction short. Written and directed by Cassiano Prado.
Teenocide opened my mind to an entirely new world of possibilities with animated gifs. I had no idea you could do so much with them. Really amazing and totally trippy. I don’t even know what to file this one under.
“Stop motion animation made out of paper, for the public transport system in Montreal. Direction and concept by Karim Zariffa : karimzariffa.com. The ad was created in collaboration with Sid Lee agency, assistant of Karim was Pascal Brousseau, and photography by Simon Duhamel.”
I was emailed this last week and just now got around to posting. Great little piece of animation.

Kristof Luyckx’s reel made me laugh, and it’s full of good motion work.
Digital Kitchen have revamped their online presence. We have worked with them before at Cactus and the are one of the best out there.
Amsterdam-based motion graphics studio Addikt have updated their reel and portfolio for 2009 with some great projects.
This is something you don’t see much of. A video animated entirely from chalk drawings. The video was directed by Lucinda Schreiber and Yanni Kronenberg for the Firekites single ‘Autumn Story’. Beautiful song as well.

Here’s a recent short film from the twisted mind of David O’Reilly.
“A video put together by Chris Ware for our spring 2009 event “This American Life — Live!” — in which Ira Glass hosts an actual episode of the radio program, performed onstage by some of our favorite contributors. Dan Savage, Starlee Kine, and Mike Birbiglia told stories; David Rakoff and Dave Hill conducted a ‘special investigation. Plus, additional visuals by Arthur Jones, and a very special appearance by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer!
The song in this video is “Eugene” by Andrew Bird. Animation by John Kuramoto.”
Wow. Gkaster posted this new experimental clip just a few days back and it is really something to behold. Awesome work. He claims that it is a tribute to Tron, Akira and Blade runner.
PepperMelon updates their already tremendous body of motion work with yet even more tremendous motion work. They also have quite possibly the coolest home page graphics I have seen in a very very long time.
Johnny Kelly has some really nice cut-paper work in his Flickr-folio. I have seen a lot of it floating around the net lately and have wondered who was responsible. You can see a little more of his work at Mickeyandjohnny as well.
Parallelostory from impactist on Vimeo.
“Spend a couple minutes in the multiverse and you may find it comfortable enough to participate in your own Parallelostory, which is just hip meta-universe slang for “parallel love story”. But remember, this is only one of an infinite number renderings of the same story that your dimensional alternates will have already viewed, are viewing, or will view.
Or not at all.
All content and audio created by Kelly Meador & Daniel Elwing.”
