Munetaka Tokuyama was born In Osaka, Japanmoves and moved to New York to work as an assistant in 2001. Four years later he was calling his own shots and has since worked for the rising force of Uniqlo. His photography is kinetic and he has a knack for capturing the personality of both his subject and the clothing they are in.
From his site: “Corey Arnold is a photographer and Alaskan crab fisherman. During October, January and February he can (or cannot) be found aboard the F/V Rollo in the Bering Sea. The rest of the year is packed with travel, gallery exhibitions, magazine and ad photography assignments with a bit of backyard gardening, cat maintenance, and skateboarding in Portland, Oregon.
Corey is currently working on his life long photography project: A portrait of the modern commercial fisherman. He has spent six years photographing his life as a crab fisherman in the Bering Sea. In 2005, he received an American-Scandinavian Foundation grant to photograph the men at sea in Northern Norway. Upcoming projects include working with the Salmon fishermen of Bristol Bay, Alaska and the Trawl industry of Northern Russia.”

Ralph Wenig has taken a lot of pictures in his lifetime. Pictures of just about everything ranging from high-end fashion, celebrities, nature and journalism. He is amazingly talented and it’s hard to believe that one person could be responsible for capturing so many different kinds of images.

Jill Greenberg is a rare photographer with a keen eye and a penchant for dramatic irony. Her images are always gorgeous and strike right to the core of the artistic heart. She is one-of-a-kind and sought out by some of the most famous people in the world to immortalize their image. She has updated her site since I last checked it and it is now spilling over with spectacular imagery. All of it is gorgeous and intensely inspiring.
When you work at an advertising agency it’s commonplace that people drop by the office looking for business. This includes all kinds of people in the creative business, motion graphics agencies, production companies and photographers. One such individual, a photographer by the name of Greg Friedler dropped by the office this morning. Greg is a transplant from New York who is on the lookout for new projects in Denver.
I absolutely love photography of people and Greg’s work really impressed me. He is able to capture the personality of his subjects in his images in a way that really connects at a visceral level. He doesn’t shy away from nudity either and I think there is something artistically captivating about seeing someone off the street in the nude. His images are raw and beautiful. I was really taken back by his pictures of Havana as well. I have always wanted to go there, especially after having had lived in Miami.

I thought for sure I had written about photographer Phillip Toledano before. He is one of the best. One of the very best in my opinion. I just love his work. Every picture tells a story even individually regardless if they were shot in a series. He is a storyteller who uses still images and I love that about him. I’ve been a huge fan of Erwin Olaf for quite some time. I recently picked up Black Magic, White Noise from my bookshelf and it reminded me how much of a positive influence his work was to my development. If you haven’t seen his photography, here’s your chance.
Dan Tobin Smith is another highly talented individual that I was certain I had written about but hadn’t. His work is almost hard to describe because he is so talented at so many different things. His primary emphasis is photography but he has some exceptional art on his website as well. It’s all good though and it’s all inspiring.
