Comments Off on Eric Ku – Mission RedefinitionGraphic Design
I was super impressed by Eric Ku’s series of projects created to explore the concept of redifining a broad series of subjects/objects through the application of graphic design. The end result of the exercises are really striking, and it is really refreshing to see someone trying to examine a thinking-process versus just creating attractive layouts. The study took him into realms far beyond the 2-dimensional space and no-doubt into unexplored regions of his brain.
I was really inspired by the idea and doubly impressed by the fact that Ku is a recent graduate. Hire this brilliant mind as fast as you can.
Mario Hugo is one of the few, if not only designers that deems a post just by updating his portfolio with only a single new piece, but oh what a beautifully crafted piece of work it is. He remains one of my favorites, probably number one on my inspiration list right now. Amazing.
David Trujillo has created some really stunning mailer pieces including the Gold Addy winning Chihuly Exhibition Invitation pictured above. Really gorgeous work and an ingenius use of print.
Jihad Lahham recently graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design. Prior to earning his BFA at Ringling, he also studied at the University of Damascus where he also obtained a degree. That is a lot of studying to become a graphic designer. As a result, he has some really nice work in his portfolio.
Daniel Baer has some very nice graphic design work in his portfolio.
From his about section:
“Swiss-born Daniel Baer’s imaginative and elegant style of design and art direction had led to collaborations with clients in the fields of art, publishing and luxury retail. Baer’s diverse range of work spans multiple disciplines, including editorial, book, advertising and packaging design.”
Sara Elizabeth Berks has some really nice and clean graphic design work in her portfolio backed by excellent usage of typography. She is currently working in New York City.

Ventilate (one of the best motion graphics/design-related blogs out there) has pooled together a talented roster of designers to produce a series of free posters that you can download via YouSendIt in high-resolution. They are really large too and might make a nice addition to your wall at home. You can’t go wrong with free and well-designed art.
Just received word that good friend, Tami Churns has a new website put together – it is gorgeous! The site itself is a true breath of fresh air, and the work that’s featured makes me endlessly jealous. Just another taste of the kind of design that’s coming out of Baltimore right now.
Konx-Om-Pax recently updated their site with more bold and strange work, including the video above for Capracara’s single ‘King of the Witches’ (directed and animated by Tom Scholefield). All of their work is very unusual and visually striking.
Face has a big portfolio filled with some really excellent design work. Consequently they have worked with numerous clients, not the least of which includes God.
