There were two short bumpers recently created by Umeric for Mtv and the one above is ‘Spot A’ You can watch ‘Spot B’ here. There has been talk about extending these into something a little more fully fleshed out which would surely be interesting to see.

Pete McDonald has been toiling away for some time at Buck, a studio that I have always respected especially considering some of the fantastic work they produced for us while I was at Cactus for the Own Your C campaign. The talent at Buck runs from floor to ceiling and even seeps all the way into the walls. Apparently Pete has recently decided to have a go at a freelance designer, illustrator and motionographer and as would be expected with someone who has worked for Buck, he has some nice work in his portfolio. Be sure to click through some of great drawings in McDonald’s sketchbook as well.
Round 6 is a made up video game trailer for a nonexistent game created by Snowball Studios. It’s a highly effective exercise and self-promotional piece to be sure. The attention to detail is staggering and it’s an impressive bit of 3D animation accomplished in a highly cinematic style.
Nokta is a self-initiated experimental project created by Onur Senturk. It is an an improvisation of organic pieces considering themes like power, chance and luck. It’s also very other-worldly, trippy as hell and super cool.
Motion and interactive designer Johannes Timpernagel has kept him self busy, flexing his creative muscles in the last few months by generating some great experimental animations. You can view them all via his Vimeo page.
Brazilian Art Director Vinicius Costa has updated with a slick new website full of even slicker work. He is currently in the employ of 1st Avenue Machine and specializes in visual effects.
Sorry for the copy and pasting but sometimes it just doesn’t make sense to rewrite something that the creative author obviously spent so much time putting together. Better left to their own words on this one. Amazing little video:
“1923 is one of two new animation loops directed by Max Hattler, inspired by the work of French outsider artist Augustin Lesage. 1923 is based on Lesage’s painting ‘A symbolic Composition of the Spiritual World’ from 1923.
The second loop, 1925, is based on Lesage’s painting ‘A symbolic Composition of the Spiritual World’ from 1925. It will be available soon.
The films were created during 5 days in February 2010 with animators and CG artists at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.”

The music for this short film was made entirely from sounds recorded from a collection of antique cameras. The imagery is comprised of over six thousand still photos shot and edited together via stop motion animation.
Brian Gossett has updated with a new website and some new projects. There is some crazy vibrant use of color happening throughout a really well rounded portfolio of design for both motion and print.
“This video was made by Steffen Bygebjerg in 2009 for the song “End Scene”. The track is taken from Troels Abrahamsen’s album WHT also from 2009.
The animation work was made in Adobe After Effects. Each frame was then printed and the print was subsequently scanned back into the computer. The scanned frames were then assembled back into the original animation, now with a new rugged look, created by the visit in the physical analogue world. No effects added after scanning.”
Los Angeles-based motion designer Nathaniel Howe has updated with a massive scroll of motion boards. Many of which are just downright beautiful with single frames that could serve as stand alone pieces of fine art.
I am not sure if this music video by Superelectric for NOISIA’s latest single ‘Machine Gun’ from their new album ‘Split The Atom’ is an official video or not, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s bad ass.
Here is a really beautiful little video for the Portland band AU, for their new release ‘Versions’ that was directed and produces by Takafumi Tsuchiya (TAKOM).
This little video by Tapebox, a London-based animation duo comprised of Dan Hayhurst (audio) and Reuben Sutherland (visual) kind of tripped me out. I love the throwback reference to the zoetrope. I had to make one of those in college. Cool work indeed.
Holke79 has updated with a new reel that is serving as a temporary holder until he launches a new site. Site or not the reel is worth watching and jam packed with some great motion work.
21-19 has updated with a new website and several new projects in their portfolio including a strong rebrand package for Comedy Channel. They score high marks across the board for both motion and static design (that was a rare sports reference the likes of which you will probably seldom here on this blog).
