There is some nice typography at Argentinian Watafak. Notice the r completing the e above, nice. I am curious though, is Watafak like some kind of one word version of what the…well you know.

Interesting work from Patrick Lallemand and Pierre Delmas Bouly at Supercript². Can’t tell you much beyond that because I don’t speak French.
There is some really fantastic work in the portfolio of Hungarian Designer David Barath.
Here is his bio from his site:
“Born and raised in Novi Sad (YU) in 1977, DAVID BARATH has been living in Budapest (HU) since 1993. After working several years for advertising agencies as graphic designer and art director, he followed his passion for photography and became creative producer of publishing house Marquard Media. In the last seven years, he has outlined and produced several fashion and celebrity stories for various glossy magazines, while founding his own agency Visual Group. This latter is continuing its activity as a ‚company for creative problem solving‘, with David Barath as creative director, while he personally is working mostly as brand building specialist and graphic designer. He is also creative consultant of product design management company PapaMama Kollektív AB, signage producing company 321, and contemporary art gallery G13.”
I have written of Evening Tweed before but they have just updated their site and there are some new gems in their treasure chest. Evening Tweed is a design collective consisting of the very talented Jez Burrows, Owen Gildersleeve, Sarah King and Tom Rowe. I like all of their work but Tom Rowe’s work really jumps out at me for some reason. His album cover, pictured above, was created using a magnetic liquid called Ferro Fluid. It is really stunning work. I love black on black.
There is just all kinds of great work in the portfolio of Canadian design agency Paprika. You can spend a good half hour or more just clicking through example after example of good design.
Recent Liverpool John Moores University graduate, Matt Keers sent a note the other day alerting me to his tastefully minimal yet entirely modern body of work.
Squeaky clean graphic design and typography from Dutch designer Michaël Snitker.
YWFT is onces again sponsoring this year’s TypeCon 2008 in Buffalo, New York. TypeCon is the leading conference in America on all that is type. YWFT is also curating a poster exhibit at TypeCon. They are currently seeking the best poster work that has excellent type. Type can be the main focus of the poster or minor (that seems a little strange). They will be showing the best submissions and the poster show will also most likely be traveling like their last TypeCon poster exhibition. They are currently seeking as many submissions as possible.
Adrian Newell was kind enough to send a note about his work. Adrian graduated from the University of Salford in 2007 with first class honors and he currently work at Traffic Design in London. He was also featured in the Graphic Design section of Computer Arts Graduate Showcase in 2007 as one to watch.
There is some good stuff going on at The Lardo, which is the studio of East London-based designer Rob Cordiner. Rob is guided by a passion for craft, typography and fine coffee. He sounds like a kindred spirit.
He spent most of the past 12 months working in the London office of The Ebeling Group. In March of 2008 he moved on taking his experience and pouring it into his own studio.
Rob is currently seeking projects and commissions. If you are in need of a good designer visit his site and drop him a line.
There is some really exemplary typography and design for print in the portfolio of Studio Laucke. The studio is comprised of Dirk Laucke and Marc Karpstein who are based in Amsterdam.
Alex Purdy AKA Graphdrome is an illustrator, artist, graphic designer, type enthusiast and a zine maker. His work consists primarily of hand-drawn madness in hyperactive color. I was really attracted to some of his type arrangements. He also has some really nice zines you may want to pick up.
Smashing Magazine likes to, on occasion gather together a massive archive of inspiration and spew it out into one ginormous blog post. They recently clustered together some of their favorite recent examples of bold and experimental typography. You will notice if you frequent Changethethought often, that I have covered several of the designers that are mentioned. It’s a great source though to have them all in one huge post and you can find some really spectacular work in there.
Thank you Smashing Magazine.
Andreas Pihlström has a new type foundry entitled, Subtype. There are only a few typefaces available so far with more in the works I am sure, but what is there is very well done. There are also a couple freebies that are worth the download.
I apologize but I do not speak French so I really don’t know that much about what is going on at Typogabor. What I do know is that the navigation at the left of the site contains one of the best collections of classic graphic design and typography that I have seen in a long time. It is worth clicking every single link. All of my favorite work by Herb Lubalin is there including the piece above. I am designing logos today and it really provided some great inspiration. Great stuff. Great resource.
Experimenta is a design studio based out of Wellington, New Zealand. They concentrate on working for clientele such as artist, galleries, museums, music and education. They prefer a subtle, minimalist approach to their creative solutions. They have some very restrained but classic work in their portfolio.
I am sure if you trawl the internet as much as I do you have stumbled across Jonathon Yule’s (AKA INVDR) fontbots. They are robot-like characters comprised of Yule’s favorite fonts. The bots are made of Akzidenz Grotesk, Helvetica and Futura which I would dare say are probably the favorite fonts of many a designer. They happen to be my favorite fonts as well, along with Lubalin Graph and Avant Garde.
Jonathon Yule is currently a resident of Ontario, Canada and seeking commission for freelance work.
