Artist/illustrator Kristina Collantes has updated her site with new work. I really like her whimsical style. It’s easy on the eyes.
I was super impressed by Eric Ku’s series of projects created to explore the concept of redifining a broad series of subjects/objects through the application of graphic design. The end result of the exercises are really striking, and it is really refreshing to see someone trying to examine a thinking-process versus just creating attractive layouts. The study took him into realms far beyond the 2-dimensional space and no-doubt into unexplored regions of his brain.
I was really inspired by the idea and doubly impressed by the fact that Ku is a recent graduate. Hire this brilliant mind as fast as you can.

“Claire Morgan was born in Belfast. She attended University of Ulster and Northumbria University where she achieved a first class degree in Sculpture. She is now based in London.
Since graduating she has pursued a career solely as a visual artist. She has exhibited internationally, with solo shows, residencies and commissions across the UK, as well as group exhibitions in Europe. At an early stage she developed a strong interest in the organic, in natural processes, and in the bodily connotations of natural materials. This formed the basis for her practice as an artist creating sculptural installations and continues to influence her work at present.”
More about Claire Morgan and her unbelievably complex and amazing installation work here.

“Air Lines is an art project showing worldwide airliner routes. Every single scheduled flight on any given day is reresented by a fine line from it’s point of origin to it’s port of destination. Thereby forming a net of thousands of lines. Hubs like JFK, FRA or DXB turn into dark knots where lines meet, lesser served local services are only are a subtle hint.”
You can purchase really large prints for only 38 bucks. Consider them a token of the downfall of the human empire. Hello global warming. Goodbye inhabital land mass.
I can’t tell you much about artist Simon Schubert because his website is in German. What I can tell you however, is that his work is some of the more interesting artwork I have come across in some time. Looking through it is a brain-melting experience. I only wish I could see it in person to obtain the full effect.

Renowned illustrator (and one of my personal favorites) Hellovon has updated with a new website.
Henri draws. And well, that’s about all I have to say about that.

“‘The Travels of Bad‘ documents the travels of an idealist Machiavellian hero, guitar in hand, on a crusade to revitalise the arts of the culture capital of the world. Fuelled by equal measures of blind optimism and hedonism, the search for new ideas and exotic flavours takes our hero to a fictional paradise setting where this bizarre satirical action tragedy literally starts to unravel.
The Travels of Bad comprises a 48-page mini-novella with 17 photographic works and a 17-track album soundtrack. The exhibition includes a selection of sculptures and merchandise.
The works will also feature prominently at the JoBurg Art Fair from 3-5 April 2009 at the Rooke Gallery stand and the exhibition will travel to WhatIfTheWorld/Gallery in Cape Town to open on 27 May 2009 and close on 27 June 2009.”
