Beautiful pictures of beautiful people from photographer Elias Tahan.
New goods in the Tank Theory store. They are looking pretty sweet too.
There are some clever new shirts available in the online storefront of the infamous 123 Klan.
True words on the shirt show above.
There are some really nice new t-shirts in the shop at You Work For Them. The shirt above is inspired by the cover of Brockmanns famous book Grid Systems In Graphic Design. It may in fact be the ultimate ‘design nerd’ t-shirt and I have to admit to wanting one pretty badly although I have kind of passed out of my t-shirt phase.
Ugmonk has a nice line of t-shirts featuring large simple type. It’s a line of clothing engineered to appease the appetite of a proper design and type nerd. I mean, what designer wouldn’t want a classic grey tee featuring a giant ampersand.
Guilty as charged. I will be ordering one.
A little about Photographer Graeme Mitchell:
“Born in Manitoba in 1980. Moved with family to various small towns in the Pacific Northwest. Studied Literature. Raced bicycles and raced and coached alpine skiing. Relocated to NYC in ‘05. Currently focusing on fashion and portrait photography. Enthusiastic about traditional black and white work, challenging his subjects, collaborating with his talented team, and not compromising. Is attracted to photography because of the inherent limitations and at the same time the immense possibilities of the medium. Believes in art, and, incidentally, love.”
The essence of cool captured on film by Christophe Kutner.
Is that a soda in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Alakazam is getting crazy with the cheez-whiz if you know what I’m saying. Crazy prints, t-shirts, zines and art exhibitions. Seizure inducing yet radically wild art goodness.
AJ Dimarucot is the person responsible for the vivid graphics at Collision Theory and he was kind enough to inform me that he now has 2 t-shirts available out there both at Threadless and Rumplo.
Konrad Jakubowski is a fan of good coffee and whiskey. He is also a movie maniac. I actually share the previously listed traits with him.
He also loves everything NYC, even the 5PM rush hour. It also looks as though he loves his work because he is very good at it. His photography portfolio is flush with exceptional imagery.
There is some really beautiful use of color, form and composition in the photographic portfolio of Honer Akrawi.
There is some expertly composed fashion photography in the portfolio of Benjamin Nitot.
I am really liking the photography and the website that showcases it for the talented photographer Chris Woods.
It is, however, one of those sites that starts playing music right away, so consider yourself warned before clicking.
There are some great, albeit slightly nerdy with a heavy dose of irony, but still great t-shirts in the Grandburo Online Store.
“News Knitter is a data visualization project which focuses on knitted garments as an alternative medium to visualize large scale data.
The production of knitted garments is a highly complex process which involves computer support at various steps starting with the designs of both the fabric and the shape of garments until they are ready-to-wear. In recent years, technical innovations in machine knitting have especially focused on the patterning facilities. The patterns are designed by individuals generally depending on the current trends of fashion and the intended target markets and multiplied through mass production. News Knitter translates this individual design process into a world-wide collaboration by utilizing live data streams as a base for pattern generation. Due to the dynamic nature of live data streams, the system generates patterns with unpredictable visuality.
News Knitter converts information gathered from the daily political news into clothing. Live news feed from the Internet that is broadcasted within 24 hours or a particular period is analyzed, filtered and converted into a unique visual pattern for a knitted sweater. The system consists of two different types of software: whereas one receives the content from live feeds the other converts it into visual patterns, and a fully computerized flat knitting machine produces the final output. Each product, sweater of News Knitter is an evidence/result of a specific day or period.”
I was happy to discover some really great work from 123 Klan at their Behance page. Honestly, it is also a much easier way to view their work than at their home website. While you are digging through their work you might as well stop by and pick up a t-shirt from them as well. I was crushed that the Die Hipsters Die t-shirt was sold out through size small. Damn.
Somewhere along the way I missed out that Mogollon had updated their site with a lot of new work. A lot of it is fashion related which is great but it is their graphic design work that I have always appreciated most.
