Pulled directly from the source:
“Sasha, a young Russian artistocratic girl at the end of the 19th century, dreams of the Great North and languishes over Oloukine, her grandfather, a renowned scientist and Arctic explorer, who has not returned from his last expedition to conquer the North Pole. He transmitted his vocation to Sasha which is far from satisfying her parents as they have already arranged for their daughter to marry.
She revolts against this destiny, flees and is resolved to going to join Oloukine a longway north.”

Powerhouse motion studio Buck relaunched last week with some spectacular new work. We spent nearly an hour last week just discussing and trying to figure out how they produced the above piece produced for Good Books. They are a huge source of inspiration to a lot of studios right now and have consistently cranked out stellar work.
…on a side note I apologize for the lack of posts lately. We are currently working on a big merger with our production studio and it’s been a little crazy lately on the ‘work’ side of things. I promise to get the ‘blog’ side back in business this week.

Gareth O’Brien is a healthy part of the tasty butter spread over the bread of one of my favorite studios, Buck. A quick glance not just at his work but the presentation of his work will be enough to start the wheels turning as to why he’s an asset to Buck.

I’ve been insanely impressed by the fledgling motion studio Diestro in the past few months. They literally kicked the door down when they first posted their portfolio and they are elevating their broadcast work to that rare echelon that might daringly be described as ‘art’. Their recent update is a testament to that statement.

I just returned the week before last from a 3 week trip to Brazil. My wife’s family (in case you don’t know) is from Northern Brazil. Teresina to be exact. So I spent a few weeks there along with a trip to Parnaiba and a few days at the beach for Carnival in Luís Correia. Yes it was nice.
I am always curious as to what is playing on TV when I am on the flipside of the equator and immediately noticed some standout branding spots for TLC and after a little research uncovered they were of course done by none other than Brazilian motion designer Nando Costa.

Naked instructed me to ‘ignore the music’ and watch the visuals but they are kinda part and parcel with one another when it comes to this sorta thing. I actually think they work rather well together but I will also admit that the visuals are definitely the more amazing of the pair. Bright, bold, neon and beautiful are words that are easily put to use.

“An abstracted visual interpretation of the creation of the Arab Spring. While not setting out to to be a polemic, this short is an optimistic piece about the amazing manifestation of people power that is the Arab Spring. Please note: The cube is NOT meant to represent the Ka’abal.” Well okay then. Credits go to Marxº
