Ventilate asked several artists to participate in their recent poster series with the theme ‘2000’. The idea being, ‘what inspired you a decade ago’. I still find it hard to believe that 10 years have passed since the start of the new millenium. The posters are available to download at 300 dpi via YouSendIt. Once again, Joshua Smith (Hydro74) put in a strong showing with a stark graphic vector poster of Darth Vader. That man just knows what he does and does it well.

W+K Studio (Weiden and Kennedy) have a special project going on to help raise money for Mercycorps to help with the Haitian relief effort titled ‘Hand Pulled for Haiti’. You can purchase the posters via the W+K Studio online store. There are some nice silkscreen posters up for purchase and the money goes to a good cause. Kudos to W+K for allowing their people to engage in participating in a project to make a difference. The more I learn about W+K, the more I think it must be a pretty cool place to work.

Swiss-born but now London-based Daniel Baer has updated his studio website with a few new and striking design projects. I am not sure if the wedding invitations shown above are one of the recent projects but they are one of my favorite pieces in his portfolio.

Sanderson Bob Studios has kept busy and recently updated with a few new and unusual projects. The studio was founded by Bob Sanderson, a former Central Saint Martins Graduate and Designers Republic Art Director. The nice thing about the studio’s portfolio is that they have managed to keep the ‘art’ securely in place with the ‘direction’.

Lisbon-based studio Alva looks as though they recently updated their website and portfolio. The piece pictured above is not new but still one of my favorite examples of their work. Even if the update isn’t entirely recent, they are still worth looking into for the uninitiated.

Berlin-based graphic designer Till Wiedeck updates with some sharp new graphic design work for print. The triangle has managed to sneak it’s way through 2009 and find it’s way into holographic foil for 2010 (looks sharp though eh?).

“THE HAITI POSTER PROJECT seeks limited edition sets of posters from artists, designers and design firms from around the world. The donated posters will be sold online to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. As designers, we have the collective ability to do what we love, AND to create a difference. THE HAITI POSTER PROJECT has been conceived as a collective effort by the design community to unite and effect change through our work. In order for this project to be successful, we are counting on designer participation. Our goal is to raise at least: $1,000,000 for Doctors Without Borders.”
They are currently seeking submissions. I will be working something up in the following weeks. Lets hope they can reach their goal.

Los Angeles-based graphic designer and photographer Carlos Tarrats has continued to update his portfolio with some very rational Brockmann-esque work for American Apparrel. Sexy women and angled Helvetica seem to fit together very nicely. He has also added some very nice works to his photography portfolio as well.
