Oh snap, just when you thought Triangle’s were gone, Onur Senturk brings them back in this short film called ‘TRI▲NGLE’ for the book ‘Black Material’ which showcases Robert Knoke’s artwork. Curator Jens Karlson asked Senturk to create a short animation using Robert Knoke’s black and white artwork as the base for animation. Whether you like the recent influence of simple geometry on design, this video is pretty slick.
Benjamin Ducroz used a 3D program, paper, a laser printer, plywood, thread and nails to deliver this amazing little bit of animation. Pretty darn awesome.
This is Tom Bunker’s graduation film for his studies at Kingston University.
Here is the artist’s description of the project:
“A man finds a Rubiks Cube in a bush and has to battle a giant head and faces a number of tasks to try and win possession of the cube!”
The Mill produced the titles this year for the OFFF Festival in Paris. Gorgeous work and I would give my right art to attend one of the shows in the future. I am hoping to soon.

Christopher Guinness created this little animated 3D commercial to get people psyched about the World Cup. It was a shame to see the U.S. go home today after such a tough game with Ghana but I hope Americans stay interested in the sport. Being married to a Brazilian, I have no choice but to watch World Cup but over the last 10 years I have become quite a fan and really look forward to when the time comes around every 4 years.
Next go round I am planning on making my way to Brazil to see the game with my family in tow. Hopefully I will see some Americans there supporting the world’s game or ‘proper football’ as the English sometimes put it.
Danish motion graphics agency Magnet Visuals has recently updated with some new work. They have some slick examples of motion, 3D and animation under their belt and I can only imagine their work getting stronger in the future.
Greg Tsadilas’s VFX reel was uploaded 4 months ago but already contains samples of work he completed for Tron Legacy. His effects work is seriously mind-blowing and his reel will knock you clean off of your seat so brace yourself. He is remarkable.
Universal Everything produces more stunning visual art for the namesake of AOL. It’s beautiful work and it looks like a dream project and although I realize these videos are purely for evocative visual intrigue it makes me wonder what exactly is being advertised. What is it exactly that AOL does or is going to do that is different from what they have done in the past?

Comments Off on Digital District Showreel 2010Motion Graphics
I am just going to go out on a limb here and say that after watching this showreel I am pretty sure there are some incredibly talented people working for Digital District.
“Originally created for the Darklight Festival’s ‘4 Day Movie’ project, Avatar Days is a portrait of four online gamers in Dublin whose daily lives contrast with their virtual identities. Advanced 3D technologies and Motion Capture animation were used to insert the players’ in-game characters in place of their real selves against the backdrop of the banal urban landscape which they inhabit.”
“The city district Amsterdam Osdorp recently merged with Slotervaart and Geuzenveld-Slotermeer and was given the name Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This change also meant the end of 20 years of restructuring urbanized areas. To celebrate everything achieved, a book was published. ‘The Metamorphosis of Osdorp’ gives an overview of the architectural highlights. We were asked to create an intriguing video, featuring the buildings we find most characteristic.”

Yannick Puig created this animated video for the band Kwoon several months ago that I somehow missed. It’s a beautiful piece of animation that works perfectly with the music track and I was happy to stumble upon it at Pasa La Vida.
There is a lot of interesting things at play here that meld music, 3D, architecture, editing and off the street footage into something that just kind of works.

“I am a designer, director and artist from the Netherlands, living in Berlin.
After graduating college in 2002 I established a company in Amsterdam providing illustration, graphic design and animation for clients such as MTV Asia, Nickelodeon, Submarinechannel, Esquire, Volkskrant Magazine and Park Avenue. This year (2008) I relocated to the German capital. And although I have not stopped working for clients, my primary focus for the moment is on personal work.”
The above video was created as the opener for the 2010 Pictoplasma Festival. You can see more of Fons Schiedon’s videos at his Vimeo page as well.
