Illustrator and artist Yana Moskaluk has updated with some exceptional new imagery. I’ve posted Moskaluk’s work before but was pleased to see some new things happening but if I could be so bold, I still wish the images were just a bit larger.
Just stumbled across the other day somewhere in the Tumblrverse and have no clue where it came from. I thought it was awesome though and should be shared so here it is. If you know who created it, leave a comment.
Illustrator and comic book artist Francesco Francavilla has a skilled hand at the ready to produce live, vivid and kinetic imagery of some very loved characters.
“Bayo’s work depicts cheerless and melancholic worlds, where the main character is the psyque, as an epicenter of implosion and confrontation among the diverse layers of the subconscious level. Sometimes euphoric, sometimes epic, sometimes psychotic, his draw denotes such a trajectory where we are constantly infected with the deepest anxiety. His characters tend to avoid frontal sight, just like whoever notices contact as a mere exposition of his/her own fragility. Just as much as the arbitrariness of his forms allow us to see that he pays no devotion to the statutes of reason. Self-taught artist and illustrator Ben Heine has posted a wonderful gallery on Flickr that he is calling ‘Drawing Vs Reality‘ where he pits his handskills in a trompe l’oeil affair with simple photography. It’s a smart yet simple idea that Heine has pulled off with an enormous display of imagination and it’s generating a strong buzz.
“Arranged like a symphony orchestra, approximately 200 antique vacuums, mixers and washers are transformed into musical instruments. They form an ensemble that the conductor, harpsichordist and composer Michael Petermann, alias weiserrausch.de, has now completed after eight years of preparation: The Stupid Orchestra.”
This installation is currently on display at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (mkg-hamburg.de).
Agency Charlie has put together a nice little series of short stories about individuals from various neighborhoods in San Francisco titled Neighbors. This segment focuses on Mike Giant and his life and work as an artist in SF. Mike is someone we have always held in high regard.
Angelo Bramanti and Giuseppe Siracusa bring waste materials and found objects alive to create some truly strange but memorable pieces of pop art under the name l017.
Orticanoodles is the work of Alita and Wally, a pair of Italian graffiti artists who produce some truly amazing stencils through which they generate pop art influenced images that decorate urban walls, skate half-pipes and canvases. I was hoping to purchase one of their works but alas they are a little out of my price range. It would be great to see them produce a set of silkscreens based on their stencil work, I might be able to afford one of those.
Peachbeach is the work of ‘three village delinquents’ based in Berlin who move fluidly from wall (graffiti) to pencil to screen with some excellent characters readymade for apparel including little gnome farmer hobbits riding squirrels.
Now Portland based graphic design Michael Spoljaric’s career path can be traced back through Attik, the Phantom Research Foundation, R!OT Manhattan, Spontaneous and now Nike where he works on the basketball account and is responsible for these excellent illustrations that I ran into on a trip to NY this summer. NOTE: Apparently the talented illustrator Saiman Chow created the illustrations. Apologies for any confusion and credit where credit is due.
Luke Jinks’s illustrations draw influence from folklore, tales from the past, and traditional western tattoo culture. Luke is also tattoo apprentice at Infinite Ink tattoo studio near Birmingham.
Bodagh is the art/illustration work of Daniel Reyes who has a very small but interesting body of strangely psychedelic imagery.
Chiemgau is the region where DP/cinematographer Mario Feil lives. It’s between Munich and Salzburg in the very south of Bavaria. He compiled this video from several shots gathered from around the region combining slides (real time and timelapse) done with the Kesslercrane Cineslider (Oracle Controller, Electra drive) to create this stunning video with music by Nouvelle Vague.
Dev Harlan uses foam, plaster and video projection mapping to make some strange, wondrous and truly psychedelic art installations. This video is from an ongoing show at the Christopher Henry Gallery, NY, NY.
Sydney based Artist Anna-Wili Highfield uses paper and copper piping to create exquisite bird and animal sculptures.
