Ziemowit Maj sent me word of his unusual illustration work that you can see via his Flickr-folio. Some of it is pretty safe but I lean towards the weirder images like the one above.
Artist C.J. Pyle has created some unusual surrealist portraits drawn on old LP record sleeves with ink, colored pencils and graphite. The end result of his work is soft and billowy in some areas and highly textural in others, which no doubt would require some meticulous detail. You can view his work at the Hammer Gallery website.

StudioKxx has updated yet again with not only new and stunning illustration work but a new website to boot. They keep getting better and I am picking up on what they are laying down.
Scottish born artist Kirsty Whiten has some exceptionally amazing paintings and illustration work in her Flickr-folio. The above image is an actual oil painting. Stunning and contemporary.
Midwestern (yeah Midwest represent!) illustrator Micah Lidberg has updated with a new website and a few new pieces of work. From those I have spoken with, all I hear is how nice of a guy he is and how hard he works at what he does. I was told that he actually creates some of his illustrations at a very large scale and then shrinks them down to maintain all of the detail. I am not sure if that is exactly how he generates some of his detail-rich imagery, but nonetheless it is a party for the eyes.
I was given a signed print of his work from Hugo & Marie, and it is one of my favorite art prints. The colors in the print are gorgeous. It’s a shame we spend so much time looking at design and illustration online when in order to truly understand and feel it you really need to see it in print. The same can definitely be said for Micah’s work. When you do see his illustrations in print, they are much much more striking.
Who out there knew that Blu had published a book with Studiocromie of their mind-boggling drawings that was hand printed and signed by the artist. And why wasn’t I told before they were sold out. Damn.
I love this ‘invisible’ drawing by illustrator Tom Haubrick. It’s brilliant. He also has a blog and it looks like he puts in the work.
Jules Arthur is an artist and illustrator with an old world Rembrandt-esque eye for capturing the soul of his subjects. The end result of his efforts is pure beauty.
Sydney-based artist Rod Luff is responsible for some lovely drawings.
This is really cool. I agree completely with what Glaser has to say about drawing. I do it more in spurts than I do every day, but I am always working on at least 1 drawing and have been since I was about 5 years old. It’s a lifetime practice that once is established, you never really shake. You just keep drawing. Via The Denver Egotist.
Kristina Collantes updates with a new website and a lot of new and different work. Her new material is a bit of a departure from what she has previously created.
Brett is a Girl is a Chicago-based artist and illustrator who obviously loves to draw but also loves coffee, chocolate, cats, and 1960’s tunes.
Illustrator Julia Bruderer has relaunched her website with some stunning new work. The detail in the piece above is mind numbing.
Alejandro Fuentes A.K.A. Los Fokos has an unusual style that is a mixed bag of influences and cultural references. The resulting drawing-meets-vector-graphic results are vivid and unusual. He has updated with new work and a new website. You can also browse some of his work via his Behance-folio. My only bone to pick is that I would absolutely love to see the rest of the image above but you can’t scroll down to see it while browsing on a smaller screen. The reason I want to see it though is because it looks amazing.
With a name like Impossible Quality, I guess you just kind of have to deliver and I think that is definitely the case here.
You just kind of stare at the graphite drawings of artist Frank Magnotta and say to yourself, “Wow, that’s really amazing.”
