Ian Wright created the above illustration using pieces of cut paper for the T.I. album titled, ‘Paper Trail’. He has equally interesting work throughout the rest of his portfolio. Very original work.
Fantastic motion boards from Los Angles-based freelance Director and Designer Nathaniel Howe.
All about Six By Ten:
“Brought to you by FormFiftyFive, Six by Ten is a unique collaboration between writers and designers. At FFF, we’re always meeting new and exciting creatives and we wanted to find a way to showcase their work and inspire people to great things.
We had a chat with our writer friend Laura Forman who introduced us to six-word stories, named our project and wrote the story for issue 01. So what’s a six-word story? exactly as it sounds. A story told in six words, no more, no less.
For each issue of Six by Ten, we’ll be commissioning a six-word story by a different writer and asking ten players from FFF to unleash their talents on it. So that’s one writer, six words and ten interpretations. We hope to produce a very special run of 60 editions of each issue.”
Kudos to the people at FormFiftyFive. Fantastic blog with guaranteed content run by some really great people with an absolute passion for design.
The work from the Italian design studio Temp has been making the blog rounds today, and for good reason, there is some great stuff in their book.
There is a great interview from Matthew Newton with Lifelounge Executive Director, Luke Lucas at Computer Love ready for your reading enjoyment. He has some exceptional typography in his portfolio and most of it comes with a humorous and satirical twist. You can check out his work at his website and his Behance page. You can also find some good reading at Lifelounge as well.
“we intend to become a good resource of graphic and typographic posters to serve all your research needs – either historical or inspirational.
or ideal is simple: feed and consume quality.
although posters may contain illustrative and photographical content, we catalog only those with notable graphical or typographical quality. just because we love the pure form of graphic design – shapes, types and colors.”
I stumbled across Typographic Posters a little over a week ago while looking for some inspiration for some of the prints I have been working on recently. It is a great resource and it looks like it will only get better. There is some really great work there to sift through and each click yields a reward. Thank you to it’s authors for curating such great content.
“Cardboard is a fundraiser for 3rd Year Graphic Design students at Salford University – to help raise money for their end of year exhibition. The cards feature artists like Jon Burgerman, Tom Judd, Parra, Jeremy Ville aswell as 3rd year design students themselves.
All money raised goes into producing the show.”
Cool idea. Much better than your average Christmas card.
New site, work and probably some nightmares to be found at Left Hand Rotation.
Via Grafik has been around for some time and was no doubt an early influence on a lot of aspiring designers. They recently put up a new site along with an online storefront.
Here is a little more about Via Grafik:
“Via Grafik is both a graphic design studio and an art collective based in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Working in the fields of graphic design, motion design, art direction and illustration, we are interested in developing design solutions at a unique visual level. Our aim hereby is to provide the best suitable design for the specific content of each individual project, whether it be large or small.”
Interesting projects, apparently for kids, in the Flickr-folio of E-Glue.
Anthony (A.K.A. Snowblinded) emailed to let me know he will be having a solo show next week at The Shoppe in Denver. The Shoppe is run by two of the kindest and most wonderful people I know in Denver, Josh and Tran Wills. It is guaranteed to be a great event and a unique one is well. It is nice to see someone who leans more towards the graphic persuasion getting their due in Denver. I would love to see more shows like this. If you will be in town please make the time to stop by. I unfortunately will be attending my wife’s graduation for her Masters. Otherwise I would be there. So please go and give Anthony my best and tell him Changethethought sent you.
Wow, some really nice work coming out of the windy city from Some Odd Pilot. I love the ‘view all’ options on their website as well.
Here is a little more about them from their about section:
“Founded in 1999, Someoddpilot has earned a reputation for the blending of original photography, handmade typography, illustration and digital effects to produce internationally recognized graphic arts, web development & branding.
We have provided services for international brands, small to large corporations, artists, musicians and numerous culturally significant institutions (including branding, building and designing Pitchforkmedia.com, the world’s most-read music editorial publication). We are a proud supporter of the independent music and arts communities, as our portfolio will attest.
Located in Chicago – America’s bike-friendliest city – we are an agency of A-list, talent-only & car-less members. This puts us in the position to be flexible, experimental, responsive, fast and often in harm’s way. We’ve been in business for 10 years, which is somewhat uncommon in the strata of small graphics and web development firms, and it is something that we believe speaks to our dedication and to the unique position we occupy within the community.”
Design Bum (Issara Willenskomer) has launched a new website. Issara is great if you have not yet visited his previous site or heard of him. His design resource download section has bee a staple for me for the last couple years and it has got to be one of the more generous freebie sections from a portfolio site out there. There is some exceptional stuff in there that really does come in handy more often then you might think. He has done some equally exceptional work for some big clients as well.
Some really cool typographic updates in the portfolio of the consistently progressive portfolio of Superexpresso.
“Once upon a time there was a Wellington based graphic designer and illustrator, whose fanciful works were; sometimes so clear and simple that they were childlike, sometimes so complex and challenging they were inexplicable, and sometimes so fresh and original that they were perhaps not even designs at all. But he did have an adorable komodo dragon pup. And he tied his pants up with bits of string and dental floss, which is surprisingly strong…”
…and he would call himself Joel Cocks.
Strange and fascinating things abound at the personal playground of designer/musician/artist Markus Hofko A.K.A. Rainbowmonkey.
