New website, new fonts and just a whole lot of newness from the Swedish type foundry, Fountain.

There is some really great work in the portfolio of Falko Ohlmer.
This is Agostina is an animation created to promote the creation of the font Agostina by the mad geniuses behind We Work For Them and You Work For Them, Michael Cina and Michael Young. Its a pretty amazing piece of video work considering it was created only to announce the release of a single font. You can watch the animation here.
“The font was designed and coded with extra swash-like characters in the open type format. This is Agostina explores those swash-like features and its options in 3d and other experimental animation methods.”
Full Credits: Font designed by Michael Cina. Animations by Michael Paul Young and Lee Suetorsak. Soundtrack composed by Michael Madill.
Yulia Brodskaya’s hand-cut type arrangements have been spreading across the net like wildfire and for good reason, they are expertly crafted and just really cool.
Asylum is a creative company that is comprised of a design studio, retail store, workshop and a record label. Sounds like all the bases are covered. They started in 1999 and have worked through the full range of design mediums. UK Magazine recently wrote that they were “probably the best design agency in Singapore today”.
Visual Evasion has compiled a lit of what they are calling the 10 best typefaces of 2008.
Agree or disagree?
New work posted to Serial Cut. I have been seeing his ads in a lot of publications lately.
There is a great interview from Matthew Newton with Lifelounge Executive Director, Luke Lucas at Computer Love ready for your reading enjoyment. He has some exceptional typography in his portfolio and most of it comes with a humorous and satirical twist. You can check out his work at his website and his Behance page. You can also find some good reading at Lifelounge as well.
“we intend to become a good resource of graphic and typographic posters to serve all your research needs – either historical or inspirational.
or ideal is simple: feed and consume quality.
although posters may contain illustrative and photographical content, we catalog only those with notable graphical or typographical quality. just because we love the pure form of graphic design – shapes, types and colors.”
I stumbled across Typographic Posters a little over a week ago while looking for some inspiration for some of the prints I have been working on recently. It is a great resource and it looks like it will only get better. There is some really great work there to sift through and each click yields a reward. Thank you to it’s authors for curating such great content.
Via Grafik has been around for some time and was no doubt an early influence on a lot of aspiring designers. They recently put up a new site along with an online storefront.
Here is a little more about Via Grafik:
“Via Grafik is both a graphic design studio and an art collective based in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Working in the fields of graphic design, motion design, art direction and illustration, we are interested in developing design solutions at a unique visual level. Our aim hereby is to provide the best suitable design for the specific content of each individual project, whether it be large or small.”
Some really cool typographic updates in the portfolio of the consistently progressive portfolio of Superexpresso.
Ossi Gustafsson of Hiekkagraphics emailed this morning to let me know that his font Akimoto is now available for sale. You can see it in action here at his Behance page as well. Its a great font and one of my favorites so far this year since Black Slabbath. Good stuff.
I wrote about the hand-lettered paintings of Darren Booth on the last version of Changethethought and was reminded of his unique talent today. I realized it had been a long time since I had mentioned him and thought it might be high time for another nod in his direction. Do check out his work because something special does happen when type is hand painted.
Some cool type experimentation and illustration work at Stereos Web Funk.
A couple of new and interesting projects in the portfolio of Leslie-David.
I am not sure but is looks as though there have been some updates at Words Are Pictures since my last visit.
I love Craig Ward’s work and I love that he is not afraid to experiment and just have fun with type.
