Comments Off on Designing Minds: Marian BantjesGraphic Design
Designing Minds has an excellent interview with the amazing graphic designer/typographer Marian Bantjes that you can watch here. It’s very insightful and it is worth lending your ear to her for a moment as she is inarguably one of the best working designers out there today.
“We’re a strategic design studio. We create brands and branded communications. Paul Soulellis started Soulellis Studio in 2001 and has grown the office out of a love for clarity, color, typography and structure. Our work includes naming, strategic messages, logos, websites, publications, posters, signs, vehicles, and other things in two- and three-dimensions. We’ve collaborated with Naomi Judd, Richard Saul Wurman, Waterworks, Sears, the Council on Competitiveness, Auburn University and Cornell University, among others. Soulellis Studio recently rebranded The Municipal Art Society of New York—the oldest urban development advocacy group in New York City. Our team is smart, sharp and savvy. Paul Soulellis is trained as an architect and has been a visiting critic at Cornell and Columbia, and frequently lectures on information design. Erik Vrielink is a graphic designer and graduate of the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Alison Walsh is our in-house writer and caretaker of the AP Style Guide. Jamie Kennard is our partner in all things web and runs Krate.”
I just dropped in on Grand People today because I really love their work and they just keep updating with better and better work. They really are amazing and I just love almost every single thing in their portfolio.
It appears Nigel has updated Electric Heat for the first time in a very very long time. It also looks as though he is still working for some powerhouse clients. Good on him.
UFHO updates with some absolutely stellar self-initiated work. Good for them for just getting out there, being creative and making something happen. Great work.

Hydro 74 and Pale Horse Design proudly present the “Back in Black” T-Shirt Exhibit – Showcasing limited-edition, one-color t-shirt designs by some of the world’s leading digital artists (who are the backbone of many of the major apparel brands we see today).
The purpose of this show is to highlight the artwork of the uncelebrated designers whose art you’ve probably been collecting in your closet for years, as well as to establish the t-shirt as a new medium for fine art.
November 22nd from 4:00PM – 10:00PM @ Pale Horse Gallery – St. Petersburg, FL
During the exhibit:
Attendees can check out original t-shirt designs by 20 of the best t-shirt artists/designers in the business. (Free admission)
If you like what you see, buy a t-shirt. You can purchase as many as you want. ($15 each)
Pick your t-shirt color, t-shirt size and design placement based on options available. (Guys and girls sizes available. Colors and sizes available while supplies last.)
Your t-shirt is screen printed on site by Noah Deledda of Thx Mgmt.
Goran Krstic is a 23 year old NYC native and creative whose work ranges from design to illustration. His work has been published on the cover of CMYK #38 and in the monograph of Mirko Ilic. He is currently working freelance and would love to talk about any projects you are interested in him working on.
Goran was kind enough to send his work to me today and I was really impressed. Great work. What talent at such a young age and to have already had experience at Brand New School. Keep your eye on him.
Great work in the portfolio of Heydays. Great intuitive use of Flash with their website as well.
