Michael Byers gyrating characters are painted with poppy colors and drawn in over-dramatized perspectives. The images themselves are a lot of fun to look at. Byers is based in Guelph, Ontario where after a bit of life and times trial and error he managed to find himself through illustration.

Byron Eggenschwiler is an illustrator currently living in Calgary, Alberta. There is something soft about much of his imagery but behind that facade lurks something much darker. It’s the perfect recipe for just the right amount of tension and intrigue.

Fun, colorful and 60’s styled illustrations fill the portfolio of UK-based illustrator and designer Deanna Halsall. Yes, the work is derivative and does remind me of some other illustrators works but the style is something that has been around for a long long time.

I recently discovered that illustrator Krzysztof Domaradzki has a website featuring some of his older works called ‘The Other Me‘. There is some tasty stuff in there that seamlessly combines traditional drawings with digital illustration along with some simple but effective graphic typography.

There is a lot of experimentation happening throughout the portfolio of artist, designer and illustrator Bryan Collins. He doesn’t limit himself to a single style or approach and as a result has arrived at some memorable outcomes within his work.

“We are Franz Thues and Dirk König, two Art Directors based in Düsseldorf, Germany. We make pictures harnessing the magic of generative design. All of our illustrations are generated by programs we write for each specific illustration series, allowing us to create a potentially endless stream of pictures on the press of a button.”
Together they are Anarchy/Alchemy.

Amsterdam based artist and illustrator Sit likes to keep things black and white but a lack of color does not subtract any of the frenetic energy from his work including a wonderful collaborative series entitled ‘Dark Vader’ with photographer Cornelie Tollens for SOUP Magazine Germany.

I have been a big fan of illustrator Martin Ansin for some time now. For the uninitiated, Martin is a Monteviedo, Uruguay based illustrator who has been cranking out some amazing work for both commercial clients and the famed Alamo Drafthouse. His most recent print completes the Mondo director’s series for Guillermo del Toro depicting Ansin’s rendition of the director’s first film ‘Cronos’ and drops tomorrow morning. So it seemed like a perfect time to ask him a few questions about his life, inspirations, location and signature style that poster fans can’t quite seem to get enough of (myself included). It’s our first interview here at Changethethought and hopefully one of many. We have several of his prints hanging in our studio so we couldn’t wait to catch up with him and hear all about how he does the amazing thing he does.
Click more to read our full Q&A session about Martin’s life, times and work along with some images of his amazing work. Be sure to click the images as they are much larger than normal to see the amazing detail in his work. Continue reading »

Moscow-based artist Aske who calls himself Sicksystems recently decided to take his geometric, retro-sci-fi-twinged illustration style into the 3rd dimension for the Faces & Laces exhibit by building imagery out of cut pieces of wood that he then painted. The end result shares a surprisingly tight link with his traditional flat style.

Illustrator Charles Williams has a way of defining his portraiture through geometric watercolor doused blocks that makes for a fun bit of eye candy. It’s a style that’s attracted some noteworthy clients.
