London bases Stockholm born retro-inspired illustrator Jonas Bergstrand has put a few new bits in his book lately and as always they are a lot of fun to look at. His work I mean, not his bits.

I got a really nice surprise in the mail a couple of weeks back from illustrator Micah Lidberg (we love getting nice things in the mail). I had a conversation a year or so back with illustrator Mario Hugo and he mentioned that Micah and is just a flat out awesome and enthusiastic guy. The book is called ‘Rise and Fall’ and is a long diorama illustration that folds out into a poster. You can purchase a copy from Nobrow Publishing here for $16 dollars. It’s a really beautifully printed little art piece that now sits happily on my desk.
Thanks Micah. You are awesome.
Ginette Lapalme lives and works in Toronto, Canada. She is part of the silkscreen studio Halo Halo and is also a member of the Woweezonk comic collective. She has a hand-on somewhat retro-inspired style that incorporates watercolor with great effect. The painted sticks above are for her Threadless shirt submission. Very nice.

Lisbon based design studio Alva-Alva has been updating their Flickr-folio with work lately including some very nice album art for ‘Paus’. There have been a few small updates to their home website as well and their work is always good to drop in on from time to time for inspiration’s sake.

Spanish illustrator Joaquin Secall has a small but memorable body of work that pokes and prods at popular culture. He enjoys being cheeky and isn’t afraid to get taboo. You can view his work at either his Behance-folio or his personal website.
Philosopher/illustrator/artist Eri C. Lu does not have much to say for himself but what he does have is a short scroll of very unusual and beautifully crafted art. He is one to keep an eye on when he starts updating with more work as his style can only continue to evolve and take on new levels of sophistication.
French illustrator Véronique Meignaud aka Marmotte has been extremely busy and has continued to update her unusual portfolio with even more colorful and imaginative works. I am becoming a big fan of her particular style of illustration and the ‘weirder’ she gets the better her portfolio is. Some of her recent works are nothing short of stunning.
Daniel Abensour is known as Aphte. He claims that he can usually be found ‘mainly drawing creatures, sometimes in a strange way, sometimes in a cute way, sometimes both.’ Consequently he has some fun illustration work in his portfolio.
Tom Sewell is a former designer from Studio Output who has decided to go on his own. He has some excellent work already in his portfolio and has a definite penchant for provocative image making. Skulls are forever cool.
