I am loving some of the imagery captured by photographer Jane Stockdale. Super high rock kicks in front of an illustrated pixel dick. How could you possibly go wrong with that?

“Directors cut of music video I (Lorcan Finnegan) made for a band called Orba Squara. The video was all one steadicam shot with animated/illustrated elements added in using 3D tracking software.
You can see a higher res version is here: Lovely Productions
Thanks again for the links Lorcan. Amazing work.
Really digging School of Seven Bells lately and this video just made me dig them that much more.

Pretty wild 80’s-inspired video for industrial shock rockers Mindless Self Indulgence. A little jarring but pretty damn cool.
Discovered via Surfstation, who is still going strong after all these years.
I am really digging this new diddy by Home Video. They made me feel it. They kind of sound like Radiohead with a little added oomph.
It doesn’t get much weirder than this video for Black Moth Super Rainbow’s ‘Sun Lips’ but that is probably just the way they like it. The song is off of their album ‘Dandelion Gum’. I have been listening to the album a lot lately while I work because it helps me get into the zone. The video is definitely strange and so is BMSR but you have to give the music a chance. Let it in. Trust me, it gets better with every listen.
You can learn more about BMSR at their website and if you dig it they also have a new project out under the name Tobacco (the album is titled, ‘Fucked Up Friends’) that is also worth picking up.

I am really digging the musical stylings of Lykke Li lately. If you have yet to pick up her latest album, I can attest that it is worth every cent.
This song is actually the ringtone on my phone now and has been for a while. I didn’t even realize there was a video out for this and has been for a long time.
I gotta just come out with it and say straight up that I love this band. They feel like the first genuine return of 60’s acid culture, and I have been praying for the day that would come back. Nothing would fly more in the face of the mounting debt, suppressing fear and flat out lies we are being fed by our politicians and corporations. There is something earnest about just admitting outwardly that we all know the system is corrupt and failing, so we should all just love each other and have a good time. Sure it’s irresponsible, but damn it all if it doesn’t just feel right, and isn’t that the essence of the true rebellious spirit that attracts us to rock n’ roll?
Drink that moon juice and rock on into the cosmos MGMT. You got my love waves to help carry you.
Matt & Kim’s star is on the rise. A friend from NYC just emailed me about them and I remember watching another video of theirs earlier last year and have since forgotten to pick up their album. ‘Daylight’ is some pretty catchy shiznit if you ask me. The video was directed by Micah Perta.
This is the latest track from frYars featuring Dave Gahan on backup vocals of Depeche Mode. The single is available as a free download from bandstocks.com/visitors and is taken from the forthcoming album ‘Dark Young Hearts’ due for release March 2009. I almost thought this video was a joke at first but these guys are dead serious and how the hell the got Dave Gahan to sing backup is a mystery.
I don’t really have any details as of yet about who directed or produced this but I dig it.
I finished my Omega Code poster today and sent it off to their open call for submissions. I was super impressed with what people were creating and really wanted to be a part of it. I designed the poster to specs, sized at B1 (close to 24 x 36 inches) at 300 dpi. There were close to 80 layers in and it weighed in at almost 7 gigs. Photoshop wouldn’t even allow me to save it at one point so I had to go back through and crunch everything just to be able to save it.
I actually really like their music and wanted to create something a little darker that suggested mysticism. I felt like something like that was really appropriate for their sound. A lot of my work used to slant to the darkside, and I have lightened up a lot in the last few years. Mellowing with age I guess but I still remember my rock days of lore. So when called upon I can bring the heavy metal thunder.
Edgy, monochromatic music video for Friendly Fires, directed by Clemens Habicht. The band were transformed into Skeleton Boys as a nod to the track’s title, with the aid of tight, black baby-grows, fans and trillions of bean bag balls.
There is some really cool Beastie Boys inspired artwork here.
Just saw this at Reform Revolution and I was pretty excited because I wanted to get in on this and now you can too:
