Maciek Pozoga has captured many unusual, personal and sometime ethereal images that exude a style that seems to come directly from capturing the personality of his sitters and surroundings.

There is a spiritual-side albeit a ‘hip’ spiritual-side to the imagery captured by Australian photographer Ryan Thomas Kenny. Something is lurking just beneath the surface of his photos that creates a tension between color, mood and subject.
Noah Conopask is currently a director in Shilo’s NY office and has worked for Digital Kitchen in the past. He has earned an Emmy nomination for past directorial work. Aside from being an accomplished commercial director he is also a photographer with an amazing eye for composition. In short, he is a multifaceted talent with an amazing portfolio of work.
Eirik Johnson is a photographer based out of Boston and is also an assistant professor of photography at Massachusetts College of Art. His work has been exhibited around the world and is also a part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Contemporary Photography. He captures some riveting imagery of unusual places and you can definitely call it art.
I scarcely have words to describe how fantastic I think the photos are taken by Justin Fantl. They are just magnificent. He has an eye that manages to capture the aura of the scenes that he stops to shoot. I don’t know how deliberate his locations are of if they come by him more happenstance but the result is unforgettable imagery.
The Anthropologist has a inspiring study on display collected by photographer Phillip Toledano. Through photos and narrative he relates his story of being a somewhat reluctant father after the birth of his first daughter but eventually giving way to genuine love over the months of seeing her grow into a little human being. As an expectant father and one who has sometimes been a selfish creative bastard in the past, it was a heartfelt telling and gave me a lot of food for thought. It’s an intensely personal experience that he shares and it’s worth the read and makes the pictures all the more inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story Phillip.
Australian director, art director and designer Dimitri Kalagas has some sharp and trendy work in his portfolio. He’s got some nice music videos under his belt as well.
Artist, photographer and sculptor Rachel de Joode’s work is a mishmash of several elements. It’s hard to forecast what she might do next and she seems able to move rather fluidly between the worlds of contemporary art, artistic photography, performance art and fashion. It makes her an interesting personality and someone to keep tabs on as there is no telling what she might be up to now.
I am not always attracted to fashion photography but Marie-Fleur Charlesworth is an enormous talent. The talent extends well beyond fashion into landscapes and their is an emotional depth to the work that is sometimes lacking in fashion imagery. I was drawn to the above photo because a car almost exactly like the one in the image is always parked in a lot across the street from my home.
Rebecca Artemisa Urias is a true creative spirit and expresses that spirit through art and photography. She is just an all around fun, whimsical and interesting talent. You can view some of her endeavors in her Flickr folio but often times, you can find more examples of her work here at Lebasseprojects, Togethergallery and read her ramblings here.
Photographer Hermione Hodgson has a trendy urban eye and is also not afraid to be bold with her use of color which always plays a strong role in her compositions. She is an accomplished artist having worked with some of the UK’s best advertising agencies.
Spanish photographer Andrés Medina sent in his work and he has some beautiful images in his portfolio. Apparently he was a primarily digital man only a couple of years back but then discovered medium format cameras and made the switch to analog and has kept with it ever since with some gorgeous results.
Claudio Kirac is a ‘modern day renaissance man’ having worked professional artist, photographer, designer and consultant working primarily within the fashion and music industries. He truly is what he proclaims to be with an impressive body of work spanning across all the aforementioned disciplines. He’s a genuine talent.
Photographer Kim Høltermand has updated his Behance-folio with a new series ‘Tuve’ shot at Lake Tuve (Tuvesjöen) in Sweden. We were thrilled to receive an email from him as we are huge fans of his talent and any time he points and clicks something beautiful happens. He’s one to watch as a true artist behind the camera.
Andrew B. Myers is a Toronto based photographer and currently a student of Ryerson University. He has a raw aesthetic that often involves washed out natural backdrops. It’s an alluring approach especially to someone like me who has a little bit of Colorado in their heart.
I received an email a long time back from photographer Gabriel Jones sharing his photographs taken for the cover of Arcade Fire’s recent album ‘The Suburbs‘. Why I never posted it, I honestly have no idea. My interest in the subject was renewed after purchasing the album the week before. last. I honestly cannot stop listening to it. It’s one of the best albums I have purchased all year and it works as an entire album which is a rare thing to find these days. The songs combine to tell a story, relay an emotion and there is an arc in the storytelling if you stick with the album. It’s their best album yet and I didn’t think they could outdo their first but ‘The Suburbs’ is fantastic in my opinion.
So with that in mind, you can check out Gabriel’s photography for the album and also the artwork produced for the album by Caroline Robert. And when you are done viewing the art that went into the album you should consider purchasing a copy as well. You won’t be disappointed.
Photographer Kate Peters wrote us to let us know she updated both her website and portfolio with more of her subtle and contemplative work. She has a real eye for the world and knows how to gather both unique people and places within lovely compositions.
Missy Prince may not be consciously trying to ‘document America’ but the photographers keen eye has captured some truly wonderful images of just such a place. You can view the quiet, contemplative, sepia-toned Americana in Prince’s Flickr-folio and learn more about the photographers approach in an interview with Transcript Magazine.
