Brent Couchman has nothing to say of himself except for an impressive click-through of colorful sometimes retro-inspired design and illustration work that is highly considered and consistently good. Enough said.
Paul Fox is a ‘multi-disciplinary’ (there’s that word again) designer currently available for freelance positions. With a squeaky clean body of color-popping work I think any smart client would deem Fox’s work worthy of an A+. Alright, I know but I just couldn’t resist myself.
Bucharest-based ‘brand aesthetics’ company Acme Industries has an inspired body of design work taking a different approach to each project in order to achieve the best solution and highest vision for each client.
After 9 years in the commercial design industry including a stint at Gendall, Cornwall’s largest agency, Neil Tinson founded his own studio in 2007. He has amassed a nice portfolio of clean design work and continues to serve his local design community through teaching at both the University of Gloucestershire and University College Falmouth.
Ed at Ferndale, Michigan-based design and screen printing studio The Silent Giants has been keeping me posted as to their progress and it has been nothing but progress since they started. Every update to their website and portfolio is something amazing and I am just ever-impressed by what they are doing. Some of their recent poster and packaging work is beautiful stuff.
Brazilian design agency Quadradao has some work that is a bit of a throwback to a golden age of clean graphic design.
Graphic designer Michael Paukner has an interesting body of work on display through his Flickr photostream. What’s particularly interesting about his work is how he approaches each layout as an editorial piece communicating bits of factual and spiritual information. Not only is the work interesting to look at you also learn something new and fascinating through each piece. And he is lucky enough to call Vienna, Austria his home. How nice.
Genève-based Notter Vigne have a somewhat frustrating website, if you are not a fan of preload bars, but if you can spare a moment of patience the other thing they have is a fantastic portfolio of inspiring minimal design work.
Oslo-based designer Fredrik Melby has some curious and beautiful images in his Behance-folio. If you can’t get enough there you an also view his work via his studio website at Anti-ink. Why the name ‘Anti-ink’? I don’t honestly know but I suspect it may be that Melby is proud to be a digital designer.
Tallinn based graphic designers Kadri-Maria Mitt and Robi Jõeleht have a subtle and considered body of design work that will definitely spark some inspiration.
Human has relaunched with an exceptional body of work exhibited through an equally exceptional website.

Hellomatt is the work of Matt Howarth who was raised on the south coast of England. Matt currently works for the fantastic studio I Love Dust and has some excellent design and illustration work in his book.
Mark Bloom of Mash Creative sent me word about his recently designed and now available for sale A1 Calendar Poster. The run is limited to 100 and you can pick one up at Counter-Objects.
“The posters are printed 2 colour litho on 170gsm cyclus offset with a 60% cyan shiner to achieve an extra rich black. Each poster is hand numbered and signed by the designer.”
Ctrl C is the work of Leipzig-based graphic designer Fiorian Lamm. He has an impressive body of print work including some fantastic posters popping with color while utilizing a classic Swiss approach to typography.
Rock of the Eye is an attempt by two reps with a nearly identical aesthetic to bring the work of what they describe as design-celeb’ and ‘illo-stars’ to the attention of young creatives in Australia for the purpose of inspiration.
Silence Television is the work of Gianmarco Magnani. His portfolio consists of digital illustrations printed on premium matte 270 gm photo paper. Each print is covered with a clear film that help slow fading of the inks and give the print a matte finish. Each print is numbered and limited to only 10 copies.
AKA is a Montevideo-based (Uruguay) online magazine centered around visual art and creative. Wow, it looks beautiful, send me a ticket guys, I’d love to visit. The magazine encompasses subject matter ranging from design, photography, cinema and illustration with an aim to showcase local talent. (The image above was pulled from an article in a recent issue of AKA and features the beautiful furniture of Menini Nicola).
AKA launched in 2009, and quickly grew into something larger than “just-another-digital-magazine” to a more immersive experience. The feature “Videoteque” for example, now serves as an audiovisual show and tell for young directors. There is also a blog highlighting creative from around the world.
Brooklyn-based Triboro Design consists of Stefanie Weigler and David Heasty. They recently produced a variation of the famous New York City subway map. The map was printed in only one color: Florescent red. The poster was offset printed in a limited edition run of only 300 prints. I am not sure where you can buy one but I would very much like to get my hands one on (or two). If you know where to get one, leave me a comment. I appreciate it.
