Gradient Mesh Tutorial

Comments Off on Gradient Mesh TutorialIllustration

The gradient mesh in illustrator has been a bit of a mystery to me in when illustrating with vector graphics. This tutorial really shed some light on how to actually use the tool to create that ‘hyper-real’ look that some illustrators seem able to magically achieve.

Artist and illustrator Silene Audibert has some interesting nature-inspired pen and ink drawings posted to fuel your creative inspiration. They kind of remind me of magic root the little girl hides under her mother’s bed in the movie Pan’s Labyrinth.

I can’t say I am crazy about Sterling Hundley’s website but his imaginatively beautiful drawing and illustration work more than makes up for any technical shortcomings. Just try spending a little time staring at the image above.

OF SOUND AND VISION

Comments Off on Of Sound and VisionIllustration

alexcherry.jpg

Although it appears that Alex Cherry’s illustrations are created digitally, they maintain a tactile quality making them feel more like art than digital imaging. It could be that he is drawing and painting first, then scanning his hand-crafted work to complete digitally. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really say much of anything about him or how he operates on his website.
