Photographer Sabine Pigalle has an artistic and beautiful body of work. She pays special attention to the use of color in her highly composed imagery and moves fluidly between fashion-styled portraiture to still life.
Lithuanian photographer, Ugne Straigyte has a dreamy, lyrical and ethereal body of work
Michael Paul Young who is one half of We Work For Them/You Work For Them has launched a new website for his personal work. He has some really stunning, what I would call ‘abstract graphic expressionist’ work in his portfolio. He also has a really gorgeous video project (that you can watch above) completed for none other than U2.
This really spectacular video was directed by Shynola and you can read an interview with Shynola’s own Chris Harding all about the making of the video at the mighty Motionographer.
Chris Saunders has updated with some really vibrant an beautiful work for motion. He has some really artistic solutions for the medium and his boards almost serve as stand alone art compositions. Hang those bad boys up.
Someone passed this along via email to me this morning and although the video isn’t really something crazy effects driven, I did enjoy the tune. You can pick up a copy of the single here from Phantasy Sound.

Chris Pell is a 21 year old recent graduate of Brighton University. He is currently available for commissions and has a very unique and diverse portfolio ranging from animation, photography to illustration. There is some interesting religious intonations in his work that definitely peak the curiosity as to their meaning.
I just managed to somehow stumble upon Poster Cabaret this morning and was absolutely amazed at the treasure trove of great design and just beautifully composed posters ranging from art prints to gig posters within their vault. There is so much there I would like to take home that it will be tough to make up my mind. I will definitely be checking back to see what they stock in the future. Good way to decorate your home.
Minneapolis gig poster heroes, Aesthetic Apparatus was commissioned by Jack White to create some posters for his latest music project, The Dead Weather. The end result was yellow, black and sexy. You can pick them up at 40 bucks a pop in the Aesthetic Apparatus online store. You can lean more about The Dead Weather here.
This set of archived music posters by Günther Kieser is really impressive. The illustrations, photography and custom letterforms are all just beautiful. It’s all been done before folks.
In a weird and impossible to explain string of events, scientists have somehow recently discovered, and tested that the commonly used food additive FD&C blue dye No. 1 (used in Blue M&Ms and Gatorade) can help speed the healing of spinal injuries. “Violet, you’re turning violet!”
Motion board designer, Jon Malkemus has some slick imagery in his portfolio and you betta know you just cntfckwth.that.
Illustrator Charles Glaubitz has launched a new blog and it is spilling over with quirky illustrations.
“Nollywood is said to be the third largest film industry in the world, releasing onto the home video market approximately 1 000 movies each year.”
Photographer Pieter Hugo traveled to Africa where he visited the sets of Nollywood in Nigeria and captured an incredibly haunting and truly remarkable series of images.
Carsten Höller makes things I can hardly understand. I guess I can more understand them as objects but how he makes them and how he arrives at the decision to make them is much more a mystery to me. He has a doctorate in biology and you can see the scientific mind at work in his art. One thing is certain, everything he makes is definitely high art.
The animated gif I posted last week got such a huge response that I figured I would start posting one here and there. I first peeped this one at Dropular.
Photographer Ville Varumo manages to capture both personal portraits and misty, twinkling landscapes with equal ease. All of the images, be them of people or land are equally artfully composed and considered.
