Illustrator Michael Gillette updates with some excellent work up at his new website. I particularly like what he is doing in that he is not operating with a singular style but addressing each project with a unique illustrative solution. That is not an easy thing to do and his work is very inspiring. I desperately want to get my hands on a copy of that MGMT poster. If you know where to find one, leave a comment. I am a big fan of both the band and that style of illustration.
Sam Green has updated yet again with more exceptional illustration work. It appears as though he also updated his website as well (going the Cargo route). I have to admit that I am becoming a huge fan of Green’s work. He’s definitely one of my favorites from the last few years. He keeps getting better and his work continues to mature and become more interesting.
Matthew the Horse is an illustrator represented by Unseen Agency. He has a quirky doodley style that at first seems childlike but closer examination reveals a very deliberate adult approach resulting in some interesting contemporary imagery.
Brazilian artist/illustrator Ricardo Actus prefers to use his hands and a pencil. His work is expressive and he isn’t afraid to let his emotions show.
I am taken by this hand drawn alphabet by the Russian design collective Dopludo. It must have taken forever to not only to draw each letter but to think up what each letter would be. It’s an impressive effort.
Niky Roehreke is a german/japanese illustrator who graduated from the Central Saint Martins with a major in Graphic Design. She currently splits time between Tokyo and New York and has completed an internship at Mike Perry’s studio.
Daniel Abensour is known as Aphte. He claims that he can usually be found ‘mainly drawing creatures, sometimes in a strange way, sometimes in a cute way, sometimes both.’ Consequently he has some fun illustration work in his portfolio.
Illustrator Mr. Josh Evans recently graduated with Honors from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. His work has appeared in CMYK 47 Top 100 New Creatives, The 2009 3×3 Student Show and American Illustration 28 and 29.
Brazilian Illustrator/artist João Ruas appears to have updated his website and possibly his portfolio with a few new samples of his amazing talent. Even if there isn’t anything all that new at his site, this is still a perfect opportunity to refamiliarize yourself with his work.
Rory Kurtz has updated and was kind enough to pass on a note that he has done so. He is a very talented illustrator and some of his recent work is as stunning as ever.
Central St Martins College graduate Sam Green has continued to updated his portfolio with some truly beautiful illustration work that combines both pencil and digital to achieve some inspiring imagery. His raw talent has provided him some exciting opportunities as of late to work for some amazing clients.
New and totally awesome drawings from Iain Macarthur are now in his Behance-folio. Loving what he has done recently. It’s time to pick up the pencil again.
Adam Hill AKA the Velcro Suit has just updated with some new work and I think a new site. I have always liked his style of illustration and his recent work does not disappoint.
Raccoonnook has nothing to say for himself but rather prefers to let his work do the talking. His work mixes pop culture with a healthy dose of inspiration garnered from animation and comics. The old versus new tension happening through simple line art clashing with colors that only could be achieved digitally make for engaging imagery.
“Mark Ward is a graphic artist based in South London and working internationally. Mark’s work mixes surreal elements inspired by Americana with the everyday, encouraging the viewer to see things differently and look twice at their surroundings.
A graduate of Central St. Martins, he works across fashion, magazine covers, editorial and installations, delivering strong concepts and bold visuals to a range of clients. Projects include signature collections for Stussy, Burton Snowboards and Nike.”
Mark isn’t afraid to just bust out his pen and get gnarly with some old school gritty skateboard deck worthy typography. And oh do I have a soft spot in my heart for that sort of thing and thank you for sending in your work Mark. Awesome.
Artist Eric Yahnker has updated with some new and oh-so-very strange psychedelic charcoal drawings. I just kind of got caught up in staring at the above image just trying to decipher what I was seeing in my mind. Yahnker possesses a not only an impressive talent but a truly unique imagination.
Sixpack France was kind enough to ship me a copy of a 64 page zine featuring the work of Australian Graphic Designer and Illustrator Jonathan Zawada. The copy is sitting on my desk now as a source of inspiration. The zine is titled “Can The Drummer Give Some More” and is printed on an oversized format of 24x32cm.
I am a big fan of Zawada’s work and there are some silky smooth drawings in the zine that I really appreciated. It’s an attractive piece of work and very high quality for a zine. I highly recommend checking it out if you are at all interested in Zawada’s work. It was a nice way to get my hands on something tangible that had multiple examples of his unique artwork in a large format on heavy paper.
You can purchase the zine here for 25 Euro and check out more of Zawada’s work at his personal website.
