The graphic design studio Cyan was established in 1992 by daniela haufe and detlef fiedler in berlin. They have a large modernist body of work with a heavy emphasis on typography. There is an impressive cache of posters in their portfolio and you can kill some time looking through the large images of their work.

The Future Mapping Company is producing some very unusual maps that bridge the gap between functionality and decorative technical art that any good graphic design lover would appreciate. I am thinking about picking one up to put in our studio. They are very reasonably priced and each has an interesting feature making them unique works of graphic art.
I believe I have written about the work of Jonathan Looman. He goes by the name ‘Lowman’ and his primary focus is the creation and manipulation of typefaces. According to Looman his ‘aim is to examine the associative powers of letter shapes and communicate at an intuitive level and so trigger the visual intelligence of the reader.’ He has some great work on display at his website ‘I am Lowman‘.
“Lorin Brown is a 23 year old Calarts grad, living and working in Los Angeles. He runs One & Done Studio which is an umbrella for his design and illustration work. His work has appeared in magazines, on t-shirts, album covers, and other printed matter. He has worked with The New York Times Magazine, Good Magazine, Stussy, Sims Snowboards, and a few others. He’s often praised for his unique talent of being able to sleep anywhere.”

I wrote about Zip Design a very long while back and the London based multi-disciplinary design studio has since updated with some new and sharp looking project work.
Bison represents the work of Linsey Levendall and Daniel Orme who together form a creative studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. They have some highly illustrative, and at the other end of the scale strikingly minimal design and illustration work in their collective portfolio. All in all, it makes for a notable body of work.
Illustrator John Mattos has only one long and glorious scroll of beautiful images in his Behance-folio but it is oh-so-worth-checking-out. Mattos is the recipient of over 100 awards for graphic excellence from various graphic magazines and design organizations including a Gold Medal from the New York Society of Illustrators, Gold from the New York Art Director’s Club and Silver from the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators.
