I wrote about Zip Design a very long while back and the London based multi-disciplinary design studio has since updated with some new and sharp looking project work.
Illustrator Tom Hovey uses his hands and looks like he keeps them off of the mouse most of the time while generating his watercolor illustrations. The work benefits greatly from the approach as it keeps a raw and emotional tone.
Brazilian Illustrator/artist João Ruas appears to have updated his website and possibly his portfolio with a few new samples of his amazing talent. Even if there isn’t anything all that new at his site, this is still a perfect opportunity to refamiliarize yourself with his work.
Bison represents the work of Linsey Levendall and Daniel Orme who together form a creative studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. They have some highly illustrative, and at the other end of the scale strikingly minimal design and illustration work in their collective portfolio. All in all, it makes for a notable body of work.
Illustrator John Mattos has only one long and glorious scroll of beautiful images in his Behance-folio but it is oh-so-worth-checking-out. Mattos is the recipient of over 100 awards for graphic excellence from various graphic magazines and design organizations including a Gold Medal from the New York Society of Illustrators, Gold from the New York Art Director’s Club and Silver from the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators. He has illustrated for just about every client and magazine you can think of and has also developed institutional projects and provided consulting for Harvard, Stanford, Art Center College, N.Y.U., Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of the Pacific, Brigham Young University.
Puerto Rican illustrator Goñi Montes attended Savannah College of Art and Design and now resides in Decatur, GA. Montes’s work is a masterful combination of both analogue and digital techniques that often arrive in action packed compositions with bright colorways.
“Chris von Szombathy is a visual & auditory artist/producer, designer and writer residing in Vancouver, Canada. His work deals with modern social, visual and economic culture, with a focus on referencing pop culture products, advertising, character design and sound. His artistic background is within abstract forms of painting, communicative graphics/logos and conceptual art and is also strongly influenced and informed by his 15 year struggle with acute agoraphobia.”
Chris’s work is a simple, iconic critique on modern society that is sometimes disturbing and other times hilarious.
Barcelona based design and illustration studio VanilaBCN has updated with a few new projects for clients including Nike and Computer Arts. Slick and colorful work.
I am digging some of the prints available at Another Example produced by Former McFaul designer/illustrator Elliott Grubb. They are simple clean and interesting. Definitely look sharp on a wall. Nice to see the whole ‘holding up my poster to acknowledge it’s physicality’ trend is still hanging on for dear life.
I am not sure if I have ever posted the work of illustrator Matthew Lyons before but he is something special. His unique 50’s-esque brand of image-making has sparked quite a following and he recently posted a new series of images simply entitled ‘Locations’. There is some really nice things happening in the recent set between muted color palettes and strong geometric shapes that would look quite stunning on any mid-century modern wall.
Rory Kurtz has updated and was kind enough to pass on a note that he has done so. He is a very talented illustrator and some of his recent work is as stunning as ever.
Hong Kong based designer, artist and illustrator John Woo (no joke apparently) has crafted a brilliant little series of paintings mashing pop culture references to Star Wars and popular fashion labels. Woo has an experimental portfolio showcasing a broad talent making him someone to keep an eye on since there is no telling what he will do next.
There is some slick vector work happening in the portfolio of Japanese (now based in the U.S.) designer/illustrator Junichi Tsuneoka whose studio name is Stubborn Sideburn. You can see a slight influence of Japanese prints in his very ornate illustration work.
Central St Martins College graduate Sam Green has continued to updated his portfolio with some truly beautiful illustration work that combines both pencil and digital to achieve some inspiring imagery. His raw talent has provided him some exciting opportunities as of late to work for some amazing clients.
New and totally awesome drawings from Iain Macarthur are now in his Behance-folio. Loving what he has done recently. It’s time to pick up the pencil again.
Adam Hill AKA the Velcro Suit has just updated with some new work and I think a new site. I have always liked his style of illustration and his recent work does not disappoint.
Philadelphia based digital illustrator Rob Shields has recently updated with several new images. He has been busy lately with projects in fashion, music, lifestyle and sports.
