Dutch designer/illustrator/motionographer Menno Fokma has been busy lately and recently updated with some new personal work as well as some new projects for clients like Mtv.
The Submarine Channel has been piling on all sorts of inspiring content lately. They tout themselves as ‘world’s premiere destination for original transmedia dramas, documentaries and genre-defying entertainment.’ They recently posted a wonderful interview with the amazing designer/typographer Wim Crouwel. He is arguably one of the best at what he does in the world and has influenced and inspired generations of designers. It’s rare in this business to see someone stay at the top of their game for such a long time. Not to be outdone, Submarine also recently posted another great interview with Droog Studio. Keep an eye on Submarine, it’s nice to see a concerted effort at building some great content that lives beyond traditional broadcast.
If you are a movie buff like I am then you will likely appreciate this wonderful little collection of behind the scenes photographs from some of the better pictures ever put on film.
Stefan Salcher, Martin Lorenz and Markus Wagner created this music video for their friend Matthias Hacksteiner’s new music album entitled ‘Turn’. Hacksteiner’s band name is ‘Amongst Giants’.
I think I have posted Swiss Designer Daniel Peter’s work before but his poster work has been grabbing a lot of attention lately and for good reason, much of it is classic international typographic style at work and it’s extremely inspirational at that.
“I truly enjoy outer space. It’s absolutely amazing that we now have the ability to send instruments out into the void of the universe to observe all sorts of interesting things. Asteroids! Moons! Planets! Dark matter! This is the perfect opportunity for a Carl Sagan quote:
“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
The footage in this little film was captured by the hardworking men and women at NASA with the Cassini Imaging Science System. If you’re interested in learning more about Cassini and the on-going Cassini Solstice Mission, check it out at NASA’s website:”
A wonderful little piece of motion design by Chris Abbas.
It’s a wild guess but Jeremy Dower might be a fan of two things, dogs and shrooms (or LSD). I could be wrong but judging by his extremely trippy dog paintings I would say I have a possible shot at being right on the money.
Matthew Woodson whom you likely know as Ghostco has updated yet again with more fantastic illustration work for just about every editorial publication you can think of. He’s a juggernaut and must never sleep.
Graphic Designer/Art Director Greg Durrell recently updated with yet more stunning graphic work for the Olympics. His work has been all over the creative blogosphere this week most likely because of it’s simple accessible style that exudes a playful minimalism that is seemingly without pretension.
Beautifully dark and amazingly dimensional (almost photographic) digital illustration work is pouring out into the Tumblr pages of the artist known as Xhxix.
Moscow-based artist Aske who calls himself Sicksystems recently decided to take his geometric, retro-sci-fi-twinged illustration style into the 3rd dimension for the Faces & Laces exhibit by building imagery out of cut pieces of wood that he then painted. The end result shares a surprisingly tight link with his traditional flat style.
Artist Robert Proch creates kinetic loose free-form yet subjective imagery that he is somehow able to translate through the mediums of canvas, paper, walls and into animation.
Illustrator Charles Williams has a way of defining his portraiture through geometric watercolor doused blocks that makes for a fun bit of eye candy. It’s a style that’s attracted some noteworthy clients.
“An infographic dissecting the nature and ramifications of Stuxnet, the first weapon made entirely out of code. This was produced for Australian TV program HungryBeast on Australia’s ABC1”

Director, animator and compositor Eric Epstein goes by the name Najork and is responsible for this eerie ethereal video for the Memory Tapes latest track ‘Yes I know’. It’s a perfect marriage of sound and image. I’d keep an eye on Mr. Epstein because with work like this he’s poised to deliver more beauty in the future.
“Avatar Sculpture Works represents the works of Hyper-Realist sculptors Jamie Salmon and Jackie K. Seo.” You might be familiar with ex-movie FX artist Jamie Salmon’s work but he has since taken on a studio partner with another hyper-realist Korean born sculptor Jackie K. Seo. Brace yourself for amazing works of art that are spectacularly realistic.
Studio Output has updated their portfolio and website with some inspiring new work that stretches across multiple mediums for some notable clients. The word above goes far in describing the work in their freshly updated book.
