The bright and shiny minds behind Universal Everything have created a new ident campaign for the relaunch of AOL. The videos were meant for content to be broadcast through web video, mobile, digital campaigns and outdoor LED displays. When it comes to video, it is all about providing content these days. Is this approach a foreshadowing of what will happen to the production of television commercials in the future? Regardless, it’s gorgeous visual art once again from Universal Everything.
Designer and illustrator David Mascha sent in a link to his portfolio tonight. He has updated with both a new website and new work. The website is about as smooth and no frills as a Flash site can get. It’s function first, showcasing his unique digital illustration work with a modern contemporary flair that really sets off his style. His illustration work is a lot of fun to look at but he also has some nice typography work happening in his portfolio that serves as an extra bonus. Good work.
Here is a 3D exploration of Picasso’s famous painting, Guernica. 3D by Lena Gieseke with music by Manuel de Falla, Christopher Johns and Matthew Anderson. Beautiful little video.
Buenos Aires-based motion graphics and 3D studio PUNGA have generated some vivid and imaginatively rendered animation sequences that move at blazing speed.
German illustrator Mark Gmehling has some very unusual and terribly fun 3D illustrations in his Behance portfolio. They are very well rendered and look like they would make for nice vinyl toys.
Romanian designer/illustrator Alex Beltechi is doing some interesting dimensional type-as-image work. Yes, it is highly digital (and I know some folks don’t like that), but it is also expertly rendered.
Olga Midlenko is motion/graphic designer and director who has conceived some beautiful imagery for style boards. It’s more art to me than imagery for motion graphics. Her original love was interior design and architecture but there is no questioning her talent for motionography.

On a rainy afternoon, a child plays with his snails and falls along with them into a dreamy circus. I guess I don’t have to mention the visuals are stunning.
Christopher Fung is a key player at Shilo where he has been working on some really incredible motion and design work for several years, all of it is beautiful.
Martin Fuchs and Philip Whitfield are both students at Hyperwerk in Basel. Undef is their collaborative experimental efforts in 3D and Processing. Equally interesting and unique.
Well, the news is already rolling out of this year’s Comi-Con event and the first news up is the sequel to Disney’s 1982 film, Tron. The movie has been stirring internet rumblings for a while now and is titled Tron Legacy. You can see the early preview above.
Here is what is available so far at Wikipedia:
“Tron Legacy is a forthcoming 2010 science fiction film. It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron. Joseph Kosinski is directing the film, while the previous film director, Steven Lisberger, returns as a producer. Jeff Bridges will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn, while Garrett Hedlund will portray Flynn’s now-adult son, Sean. The other cast members include Bruce Boxleitner, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett and John Hurt. According to the teaser trailer shown at the 2008 and 2009 Comic Con, the film will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D.”
It looks like an interesting blend of live action and 3D. There is a strong cast on this one too so it will be equally interesting to see if it proves to actually be a really good movie.
