Thom Kerr: Updates

Comments Off on Thom Kerr: UpdatesPhotography

thomkerrupdates.jpg

Australian fashion photographer Thom Kerr has updated with what I guess could be described as a different kind of website. His unique brand of humor and levity towards his chosen profession comes shining through in the setup of his new site. Kerr initially graduated with a degree in film working in production design and wardrobe before finally stepping behind the lens to find his true calling.

Kora Krit Clothing

korakritclothing.jpg

I have previously featured the work of artist Kora Krit but I believe this may be a new website showcasing some of his very unusual and original clothing. Either way, his fascinating t-shirt designs are still worth a second look.

A little more about the artist:
“Previously known as “Pissingsquirrel”, “Kora-Krit” is a collection of tees, hoodies and fashion items made by Korakrit Arunanondchai. Korakrit loves having fun and hopes that people who wear his inventions will feel the same too.”

La Painthouse

Comments Off on La PainthouseFashion

lapainthouse.jpg

Here is what the newly launched French clothing brand La Painthouse has to say for itself:
“Each line of clothing is based on 3 ingredients:
-A basic theme (for this first season, our inspiration was the crisis as a result of an inefficient monetary system).
-A critical interpretation or artistic vision of that theme
-The use of a high quality cotton and print for an edgy top-notch end result.”

Beyond that what you need to know is that the shirts have been designed by the likes of Evil Design, Jean Spezial, Jon Burgerman, Nate Williams and Shin Tanaka. They aren’t cheap to purchase but they are definitely some well designed tees.

Fail-ure is a new brand that has been launched by the Serial Cut creative team. The collection consists primarily of tees, sweatshirts and tanks. There is no Spring, Summer or Winter collection because they have no idea where you live. Once a year a new collection will be released for your wearing pleasure.

As could be expected from the minds behind Serial Cut, the website is slick and imagery of the collection is striking and artfully composed. The collection itself is also highly considered and would make a bold statement in anyone’s wardrobe.

Aitor Throup

Comments Off on Aitor ThroupFashion

aitorthroup.jpg

Aitor Throup was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1980. He has also lived in Spain and moved to Burnley in England in 1992. It was in Burnley that Throup developed a passion for labels such as Stone Island and C.P. Company. It was a mixture of Aitor’s interest in these products and his own passion for drawing that led him to begin a BA in Fashion Design at Manchester Metropolitan University, from where he graduated with first class honours in 2004. In 2006, he completed an MA Postgraduate Degree in Fashion Menswear at the Royal College of Art in London.

Aitor is fascinated with anatomy and his main interest is drawing. His hand drawn characters become the primary tool in the exploration of his ‘justified design philosophy’, which highlights the necessity of a reason or function behind all design features. Aitor’s design process is centered around innovative methods of design and construction, in particular a construction process which utilises his own sculptures of the human body as a system for blocking garments.”

Aitor has an amazing body of work and his process of moving from abstract sketch to reality makes him all the more intriguing.
