This minimalist poster set created by designer Andrea Gallo has caused a stir around the creative blogosphere in recent days. Probably because it’s clean, smart, cool and easy to digest. The series features 6 of the designers favorite architects along with minimal stylized graphic interpretations of famous examples of their architecture.
Now Portland based graphic design Michael Spoljaric’s career path can be traced back through Attik, the Phantom Research Foundation, R!OT Manhattan, Spontaneous and now Nike where he works on the basketball account and is responsible for these excellent illustrations that I ran into on a trip to NY this summer. NOTE: Apparently the talented illustrator Saiman Chow created the illustrations. Apologies for any confusion and credit where credit is due.
Smatik is the work of lithographer turned pixel cruncher André Ljosaj who has an amazing imagination and the ability to create some amazingly imaginative imagery.
Writer John Pavlus has asked a question that has sparked a healthy debate amongst the design community over the creation of postera to spark aid for disasters and has used James White’s (Signlenoise) recent poster which raised $7,000 for charity as the crux for his argument. It’s caused quite a stir if you scroll down the read the comments, and to be honest we have struggled so far with what the right reaction to our concern over Japanese crisis should be as a studio. We thought about creating a poster but immediately felt mixed emotions about doing so for the very reasons Pavlus raises but we also see the positive in creating something that inspires people to give who otherwise would not. It’s an interesting debate. What do you think?

Montreal based design studio Feed has been churning out some excellent design work since 1999 and you can see several examples at their recently updated website.
I’ve lately been super active on Flickr and have become a bit of an addict about updating as frequently as I can. It’s given me a new reason to create and I have enjoyed the engagement and conversation that comes immediately through using Flickr. I noticed recently after sending a few emails back and forth that Michael Cina had been loading all kinds of good things into his Flickr account including some excellent new artwork for a Ghostly Records release. I’ve been a fan of Cina’s work for a long long time now stretching all the way back to the late 90s. So it’s great to still see him doing such inspiring work. I know he’s a busy guy having just started a new business and having his first child. I know that because I did precisely the same thing in the last 12 months and it’s a lot to take on. Keep up the great work Mike.
OK-RM is a London based design studio founded in 2008 by Oliver Knight & Rory McGrath. They have a very understated but strong body of classic graphic design work for editorial represented in their portfolio.
W+K Shanghai designer Sally Zou has had her hands on some nice projects running from motion through design and illustration for clients like Nike.

Sam Dallyn just makes beautiful things. Those things range all over the place from clocks, to print campaigns to business cards but each one of them addresses a highly considered, clean and contemporary aesthetic that makes his work stand out as a whole immediately upon viewing the home page of his website.
Austrian designer illustrator David Mascha has updated with more colorful info-like graphics for companies like AT&T and IBM. I am really digging his abstract, colorful and dimensional visuals.
