Marcus Eriksson A.K.A. Subdisc has updated his portfolio after a long pause. There isn’t really a lot of new work in his book but his work is always worth checking out one more time especially if you are unfamiliar.

Always good, Good Magazine has a synopsis on the decade in design that started the new millenium. It was a wild ride for most of us and marked the first decade for me personally as a professional graphic designer/illustrator/web designer/actionscript writer/exhibiting artist/editor/copywriter/art director/blogger/creative entrepreneur. Just from my own personal list of exploits, which I narrowed down for the sake of sanity, you can get an idea that the last decade was one in which we all had to adapt and move quickly as dotcoms crashed, bubbles burst and economies went bust. I think we are all hoping for better things in the next decade, and I think they will come but making them happen will require an active hand from all of us. That much we can all be sure of. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, you can read down the quick list of what happened in what is now the past at Good Magazine.
& a happy twenty ten to you all. I wish you all the very best in this new year and hope it proves to be a great one for all of us together.
There is some highly considered design happening in the portfolio of Liverpool-based design studio Burn Everything. They leave few surfaces untouched within their multidisciplinary range of work that includes print, multimedia, interiors, environmental and exhibition design.
Philippe Intraligi does some crisp and clean vector branding work for some big clients. He also cranks out some nice visuals for use in television spots. He is a bit of a jack of all trades and it doesn’t seem to hinder him at all from pulling in the projects.
Direct from Abdul Basit Khan’s about section:
“Abdul Basit Khan (1984, PK) is a graphic designer currently working at a design research laboratory at the Department of Architecture in the National University of Singapore where he produces printed matter and interactive applications.
He received a BA in Design (research) from the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 2007. In 2004 he studied Graphic Design at Lasalle in Singapore.
His self initiated work explores the interests of science-fiction, dystopian futures, architecture and urbanism.“
Josh Finklea is originally from Austin, Texas and currently attends the Art Center College of Design is Los Angeles. His work is already beautifully considered for still being in study.
It’s been a very long time since I have dropped in on the work of London-based graphic designer Peter Crnokrak at The Luxury of Protest. I am glad I did because there is some new and really beautiful work in his portfolio since I last looked.
Barcelona-based Dracula Studio is managed by Alba Plaza and Elena Gallen. The studio is focused on developing fresh creative projects. They have some really fun and sometimes retro-inspired work in their book so far.
Jonas Hegi spent 2 years studying at the University of the Arts in Zurich. He moved on to complete an internship at Ludovic Balland and is now interning in Den Haag at Carvalho Bernau. He is part of the motion graphic collective Les Enfants Terribles. He has some killer typography in his print portfolio. Hegi’s approach is very swiss and very inspiring to those whose tastes lean in that direction (mine have been lately).
Berlin-based graphic designer Tobias Roettger has a rather random scroll of a portfolio which at first doesn’t necessarily seem all that engaging until you start to take notice of a few really nice examples of contemporary design and illustration.
Norwegian design studio Mission Design has a clean and considered body of work that serves up a nice little shot of inspiration.
I apologize for being born in a country where you are discouraged to learn a second language which helps explain why I can’t read nearly anything at the Claudia Basel studio website. It doesn’t take a second language to see clearly however that there is some striking examples of graphic design within the Claudia Basel portfolio that are worth laying eyes on regardless of your linguistic capabilities.
There is some gorgeous branding and print work in the portfolio of Lotta Nieminen who studied at both the University of Art and Design Helsinki and The Rhode Island School of Design. That is quite a background and it shows in the work.
Geneva-based multidisciplinary design studio League was established in 2007 by Aurélie Vogt, Tony Casimo and Alex Wall Dujet. There is some very swiss, clean and considered work in the portfolio of League much of which is very inspirational.
Studio Spass is a visual communication agency based in Rotterdam. They have a growing list of clients with some sharp work for print and web. They have a strong passion for design and do what they can to keep from boxing themselves in by avoiding formulae.
Studio Astrid Stavro is a multi-disciplinary communication and design consultancy based in Barcelona. They have large volume of work in their portfolio, all of which is clean and considered. Spend a little time clicking-through. Their work has been online for quite some time now and for some reason I missed it.
Providence, Rhode Island-based graphic designer and motionographer Christopher Wade Sherron has some nice clean typography work in his portfolio.
Slovenian Studio Ee has some crispy clean print work in their collective portfolio.
