Bill Mund is the kind of guy you feel like you know or at least kind of understand after surfing through his uniquely illustrated pop-inspired satirical take on culture and consumerism. It’s the kind of stuff that involves farting Brazilian butts, He-Man, Hugh Hefner and He-Man. If I ever had the opportunity I think I’d buy Bill Mund a beer and probably get totally ripped with the guy because he seems like he’d be a helluva lot of fun to do that with.

This is a surreal and super psychedelic experimental 3d animation piece completed entirely by Russian motion designer and animator Dxmiq. It’s trippy to say the least and made me wonder what a director like Kubrick would’ve been able to do with abstract visuals like this if he were still around today.

HAFF 2012 opening titles from Kinetic Pixel on Vimeo.
Kinetic Pixel created the titles for the second year in a row for the Helsinki African Film Festival. This year’s effort centered around 3 concepts directly related to the festival. Those concepts were the screening of a movie. a festival club or African party and African masks.

This is the debut music video for director Houmam Abdallah blending the real and surreal that follows a vessel that wonders into a world where art and nature are one. The video is for the title track of Beirut’s latest album, The Rip Tide. The song was inspired by the works of Salvador Dali, Georges Seurat and JMW Turner.

Daryl Feril is based in Bacolod City, Philippines where he hand renders some wonderful ink and watercolor illustrations inspired by flora and fauna. His self-initiated ‘brands in full bloom’ project integrates brands he felt worked with his specific style to communicate their ‘feminine mood yet still conserve the sophistication and identity of each brand’.

Well I was going to try and rewrite all of this but it’s rare an artist has such a well written and interesting biography so here it is in it’s entirety:
“Andrew Dosunmu is currently based between New York, and lagos, Nigeria. Raised and educated in Nigeria, Dosunmu began his career as a design assistant at the fashion house of Yves Saint Laurent. He has subsequently worked as a Creative Director and fashion photographer, whose images have appeared in a variety of international magazines. Besides a flourishing career in photography, Dosunmu is also active in film and television. His award-winning documentary Hot Irons (1999) won best documentary at FESPACO and Reel Award at Toronto. In South Africa, Dosunmu has directed episodes of the widely acclaimed television series “Yizo, Yizo” which dramatizes the policy debates around education in post apartheid South Africa through a frank presentation of the social crises and conflicts at a Johannesburg high school. Dosunmu has also served as creative director for album covers (for such artists as Erykah Badu and Public Enemy), and directed music videos, including his first for Isaac Hayes, and others for Angie Stone, Common, Wyclef Jean, Kelis, Aaron Neville, Maxwell, Tracy Chapman and Talib Kweli. Dosunmu has recently been selected to participate in the photography exhibition “Snap Judgments: New Positions in Contemporary Photography” at the International Center of Photography. In 2007, Dosunmu was honored with the request to speak at the TED Global conference. Dosunmu is currently in production on his documentary “The African Game” which documents the fans and spirit of football in Africa. Photographs from this documentary have already been published in a coffee table book by Powerhouse Publishing. RESTLESS CITY is Dosunmu’s first feature film endeavor; intended for theatrical release, it will premiere in the festival circuit in late 2010. Dosunmu is a grant recipient of the Annenberg Foundation and the Maryland Film Fund.”
You can witness Dosunmu’s stellar talent here.

Rick Berkelman has a ‘not too in your face’ style as he describes it that combines elements of hand rendered typography, patterns and characters that are finished with a printerly touch that sometimes leans towards the ‘vintage appeal’.

We just wanted to post a brief message regarding some internal news at the Changethethought studio. We are planning on releasing a lot of screen printed posters over the coming months and will be stocking our store pretty heavily over this next year. We will be sending invites out to selected illustrators and designers that have been posted to the blog to participate in themed group poster shows and releases soon.
So we are currently looking for a reliable US-based screen printer or screen printing company to handle our upcoming projects. We prefer someone who has access to a mechanical screen press since we will be doing a lot of larger format prints (24×36 inches) and the illustrations we plan on printing will be extremely detailed. So we need ultra-tight screens and consistent quality throughout the run. We hope to foster an ongoing relationship with the printer we select since we will be doing a lot of printing from here on out.
Please contact me personally at chris(at)changethethought.com if you are interested in referring a screen printer.
Also we have one more brief note to mention. We recently joined Instagram and you can follow us @changethethought.
We are also again accepting and actively seeking projects for the Changethethought production studio in branding, identity, graphic design, illustration and motion. We recently paired the studio down to a smaller boutique and can once again accept smaller budgeted projects. Contact us if you have a project you would like to discuss with our studio.

After a nearly 4 month engagement with the emerging Denver motion design and FX studio Friends of Mine, Changethethought has decided to part ways and return to it’s operations as an independent multi-disciplinary creative studio and creative brand. The decision for Changethethought to leave it’s partnership with Friends of Mine was a result of a desire to continue to push CTT further as it’s own creative brand that can live outside the scope of an entirely project-driven studio. As a result Changethethought will be moving it’s emphasis more towards freelance art direction and consulting for advertising agencies, branding, graphic design, package design, illustration, animation and motion. Projects will soon be underway to generate several new items in the Changethethought storefront to help inspire opportunities for artists, designers, typographers and illustrators that have been featured on the CTT blog to sell goods developed in direct collaboration with CTT.
Friends of Mine is quickly developing into a powerful production studio in Denver and will continue to do so. We wish FOM all the success they deserve and will continue to support their efforts.
Currently Changethethought is seeking projects, collaborations and ideas for print, branding, graphic design, illustration, motion, art direction, advertising on the blog and the development of content for the blog. Please contact us at hire(at)changethethought to discuss your next project or desired collaboration with CTT.
Thank you as always for your support of both the blog and the studio.

One of my favorite illustrators Shan Jiang, formerly of I Love Dust has since moved into a new partnership at Shotopop. His presence can be immediately felt on their recently updated website where they are now showcasing some of his best feats of illustration. He is no doubt a loss to I Love Dust and a powerful gain for Shotopop.

The IMP Awards has amassed an impressive collection of movie posters and yes there is a lot of Photoshop going on (bring back illustration!) but there is also a wealth of inspirational work on display that finds and walks that rare bridge between art, commerce, design and popular culture.

“Dancehall Queen Style is a Jamaican dance fashion which became popular in the 1990s through music videos and The Grind show on MTV. The video is a playful take on the dancehall culture with its provocative costumes, suggestive poses, roles and blatant sexuality.”
Originally GRIND was made for Art gallery/-museum KIASMA and exhibition “Thank you for the music” 2012.
I will totally and openly acknowledge that the image above might be a little off putting to some (while totally inviting to others) but you have to trust me on this because there is something rather ‘glorious’ about this little video and yes ‘glorious’ is precisely the right word in this situation.

“For our Summer 2012 collection, we worked with British illustrator Adrian Johnson. We met up with Adrian at his studio in Lewes.
Over the years, Liverpool born Adrian Johnson has developed a unique and strongly identifiable body of work. His trademark economical, highly crafted, graphic work is constantly evolving, whilst always maintaining a healthy distance from current trends and passing fashions. Adrian’s work has already led to a prolific working career and a client list which includes Paul Smith, Adidas, Monocle, The New York Times and Unicef. He also has exhibited work in London, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo. Attention to detail, humor and a simple timeless sophistication mark him out as one of the leading illustrators currently practicing.”
I don’t hide the fact that I am a big big fan of both Adrian Johnson and Stüssy.

Paraphrasing here:
“Directed by Carl E. Rinsch, ‘The Gift’ Belongs to the “Parallel Lines” Phillips Cinema campaign originally released in Russia. The Gift is a Sci-Fi short with a savage Chase sequence. More than 20 full CGI shots were created for the short. Vechicles and characters were also designed specifically for the short.”
