You know how all of your stoner buddies (or maybe you yourself were actually a ‘stoner buddy’) talked about how the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon synched up perfectly with the movie Wizard of Oz? Well, now here is your chance via the magical internet to watch the entire thing.
I have actually been to the location in the photograph above by Kevin Kunstadt and he somehow captured the entire mood and aura invoked by that place. The same can be said for all the rest of the images in his book.
Japanese illustrator Tatsuro Kiuchi has a nice gritty yet dreamy style that feels hand-rendered. It’s a nice juxtaposition of style and content that makes for a likeable image.
Eight Hour Day recently updated with a project for Manifest featuring notecards for their stationary system. ‘Each card aligns with a different “chapter” mark, which are supplemental glyphs that represent the agency’s core values and disciplines.’
Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Typographer Boris Pelcer immigrated to the Midwest in search of a better life from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He received his degree in illustration from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and is currently Design Faculty at the University of Idaho’s College of Art and Architecture.

We used the opportunity to test some concepts in 3D and see how it would translate to 2D, and vice versa. Originally part of the Experiment 5ive omnibus — 5gum.ru . (Hence the black envelope with the picture inside, which had to be the common element of all 5 films)

“Craig Redman and Karl Maier live on opposite sides of the world but collaborate daily to create bold work that is filled with simple messages executed in a thoughtful and often humorous way. Craig & Karl have exhibited across the world, most notably at the Musée de la Publicité, Louvre. They have worked on projects for clients like LVMH, Nike, Apple, Vogue, Microsoft, Converse, MTV and The New York Times.”
It’s probably best to keep an eye on this dynamic duo because even before joining forces they were attracting a lot of attention. And from the looks of their portfolio they are going to be attracting a whole lot more.
Pitch Black’s showreel for 2011 is pretty nasty. And by nasty we mean rad. And by rad we mean dope. And by…well you get the picture now just watch the reel.
Artist Jeremy Fish is still doing his thing and has updated lately with some excellent work. His hand is so airtight now it almost looks like vector art. He keeps honing his craft though and getting better at what he does and there are some wonderful works in his portfolio.
Wow this is an extremely nice scroll of airtight classic posters from Dutch graphic designer Marius Roosendaal. I was very inspired by some of these.
Illustrator and designer Aaron Bloom is generating some tasty gig posters that feature a strong use of typography.
Chinese illustrator Qian Yi is generating some downright beautiful digital and traditional paintings at a rate that belies a serious talent not just as a digital artist or illustrator but a contemporary one.
Designer/illustrator Ben Thomas has a very interesting style complimented by the use of 3D. He is one of the few designers using these elements that is regularly releasing prints. It’s all an extremely bright and surreal experience looking through his work but we dig it. He mentioned in an email to us the possibility of a collaboration and we are all ears to that idea.

I think ‘stupidity’ might be a little strong but it’s used in the spirit of ‘fun’ and ‘fun’ is definitely the right word to describe Marie’s work.
Painter Joe Forkan has created an entire series based off of the film The Big Lebowski. Awesome you say? Why yes but before you accept it at face value as a fan of one of the strangest and most wonderful films of all time, Forkan is a serious painter who has done his homework and in many ways paints in the style of the old masters. He was drawn to the symbolism and attention the Coen brothers brought to the movie and has attempted to translate that very energy into his paintings.
What I dig about Scott Balmer’s illustrations is that they somehow manage to be current while invoking references to great illustrators from the 60’s and 70’s He’s putting Illustrator to good use.
Chuck AKA No Pattern has once again updated his portfolio with several new projects for the year of our Lord 2011. He is holding hard and fast to the glow thing too and why not? He pretty much owns that space now and clients recognize his work.
