Artist and provocateur Takashi Murakami is at it again this time at the Gagosian Gallery in London where you can see a preview of some of his latest and once again hyper-sexually charged and flamboyantly colorful sculpture work. Wouldn’t it be something to have one of those in your home?

There is good work, there is great work and then there is like ‘whoa, holy shit’ work. And here is Dixon Baxi’s reel for 2011, and well you know like ‘whoa, holy shit’.

There is a kind of subtle restraint happening throughout the photos logged at through the Tumblr page of Paulushaus. Each photo feels like it was captured on the spur of the moment although almost every composition looks like it was considered beforehand in order to achieve a harmonious balance.

Artist and illustrator Noil Klune has a unique and interesting style that involves painting and digitally compositing over what looks like existing photography. The end result is an intriguing interplay between negative and positive space with a healthy splash of color.

Photographer Douglas Lyle Thompson has a kind of photo-journalism kind of a thing happening in his portfolio that serves almost as a log of places he’s been that he found interesting. And the places he has been certainly look interesting and even more so through the lens of his camera.

Japanese scientists have engineered an edible meat using solid human waste. It’s perfectly nutritious and apparently tastes like beef. Be sure to ask for flys with your crappy meal.

I have been a big fan of illustrator Martin Ansin for some time now. For the uninitiated, Martin is a Monteviedo, Uruguay based illustrator who has been cranking out some amazing work for both commercial clients and the famed Alamo Drafthouse. His most recent print completes the Mondo director’s series for Guillermo del Toro depicting Ansin’s rendition of the director’s first film ‘Cronos’ and drops tomorrow morning. So it seemed like a perfect time to ask him a few questions about his life, inspirations, location and signature style that poster fans can’t quite seem to get enough of (myself included). It’s our first interview here at Changethethought and hopefully one of many. We have several of his prints hanging in our studio so we couldn’t wait to catch up with him and hear all about how he does the amazing thing he does.
Click more to read our full Q&A session about Martin’s life, times and work along with some images of his amazing work. Be sure to click the images as they are much larger than normal to see the amazing detail in his work. Continue reading »

If you are a poster fanatic like I am then you will certainly appreciate the huge archive of dropdead gorgeous prints created for some of the better bands out on tour by the silkscreening studio Status Serigraph. The prints are extremely reasonably priced too and the designs skills represented are obviously top shelf all the way.

If I may, please allow me to introduce you to ‘The Cat Man’ of Canne by way of Paul Trillo for Real Ideas Studio. I think you will find ‘The Cat Man’ to be a rather interesting and entertaining character as I did. But please note, his cats are not on drugs.

Here is a nice little bit of animation for a good cause. The video was created on behalf of Leo Burnett Iberia to support the cause of Dhondup. Illustrator Emiliano Ponzi worked with animators Oliver Durant, Bruna Guerreiro, Anne Calandre, Matthias Hoegg under the art direction of Bruna Guerreiro and the direction of Oliver Durant to bring this piece to life. You can learn more about supporting Dhonup’s cause here (just check the links).

French graphic designer Pierre Vanni has recently updated with all kinds of strange new and very French projects. It’s minimal, brimming with personality and will definitely make you scratch your head in a good way. His portfolio reads more like a dive into the subconscious mind of a French designer than it does like a book of real project work.
