Illustrator Koren Shadmi lives and works in Brooklyn, NY and if I could be so bold I recommend checking out Sadmi’s personal work.

What do you think the odds are that if you threw a rock into a crowd in Brooklyn it would hit a designer, artist or illustrator?

Bicicleta Sem Freio: Updates

Comments Off on Bicicleta Sem Freio: UpdatesIllustration

bicicletasemfreio.jpg

The Brazilian design and illustration trio known as ‘Bicicleta Sem Freio’ (bicycle with no brakes) that is comprised of Douglas de Castro, Victor Rocha and Renato Reno have continued to fill their Flickr-folio with fantastically kitschy work that is downright impossible not to like. I am digging their brand of cynical pop big time.

Wesley Eggebrecht

Wow, I stumbled up the Behance sketchbook of illustrator Wesley Eggebrecht and was very impressed. He has an amazing style and imagination. It made me excited to pick up the pencil and just go for it. You can see a few more examples of his work in the rest of his Behance folio and he also has a website, but to be perfectly honest the rawness of his sketches and his intuitive style was what I was most taken by.

Akutou Loves You

Comments Off on Akutou Loves YouIllustration

akutoulovesyouupdates.jpg

Vector illustrator extraordinaire Akutou has updated with a new website featuring some 80’s, manga and movie inspired vector candy that is sure to bring a smile to your face. It’s the first website I can remember in years that starts with music that I didn’t immediately turn off. The soundtrack is as good as the website and work and you can see what you are listening to by clicking here.

Although there are only a slight few that are new, illustrator Martin Ansin has added some marvelous illustrated movie posters to his stunning portfolio. I would kill for a copy of the above Stanley Kubrick poster. Kill.

His work has been featured in American Illustration 27, CMYK, Communication Arts, CQ, as well as Taschen’s Illustration Now! 3.”

Freeman has some lovely work in his portfolio with a surreal watercolor-real look that reminds me a bit of rotoscoped imagery. You can see his illustrations via both his personal website and his Flickr-folio.

I can’t really tell you much about Japanese illustrator Zain 7 except for that she is a she and she is Japanese. What I can tell you with certainty is that some of her work is mind-bendingly awesome. Pure pop art candy.

Nathan Manire

Comments Off on Nathan ManireIllustration

nathanmanire.jpg

Illustrator Nathan Manire was originally in Detroit but is now based in New York City. He has recently developed a new technique using watercolor to create a pixelated look that I would imagine requires a fair bit of patience to accomplish. The end result of his diligence is a striking image. To truly appreciate the amount of detail, take a few steps back from your monitor and squint your eyes a bit.
