Casual cool collides with good looks in the photography portfolio of Alex Aristei. Looking at all of those skinny cool people made me feel a little inadequate and self conscious but Aristei has a knack for making it all look natural.

I was recently turned onto the work of illustrator Laurent Durieux from a poster he released through Dark Hall Mansion. I’ve heard it through the grapevine that he has some upcoming posters being released through Mondo as well. It’s easy to see how he attracted the attention after you take a look through his exceptional body of work.
Tom Hingston Studio consistently cranks out exceptional work and his recent portfolio update is no exception. There are some brilliantly produced projects represented for some amazing clients.
Berlin-based film and entertainment illustration and concept art studio Six More Vodka has updated since I last dropped in and good God man is their work amazing. Talk about inspiring, the above image of the Hulk just blew my brain wide open. These people are truly amazing. Be sure to check out their kick ass concept work as well.
I’ve been following Depthcore for inspirations sake now for several years. It appears they’ve recently updated the look and feel of their website. It looks great and it’s even easier now to peruse some of the inspiring work that regularly appears within their thematic ‘chapters’. The piece above is from the recent chapter ‘Time’ and was created by Pavel Sabelnikov.
Man Joshua Smith AKA (the notorious) Hydro 74 just doesn’t f*ck around. The guy’s the real deal. Tried and tested. I recently stumbled upon a halftone print series he is working on and instantly recognized his work but it looked ‘new’ in a way difficult to describe. In short it looks awesome. Yes that is an overused word but in this case it definitely applies. I’ll be looking to get my hands on one of these prints. Keep an eye on his storefront to do the same.
If you have a pulse and you’ve kept your ear to the ground creatively over the past few years I am sure you may have picked up on the influence of ‘hipster’ culture on both graphic design and advertising. And like it is with every trend after a period of time there will always be a backlash. And lately the hipster influence has definitely had it’s neck laid over the chopping block. I recently stumbled upon a fun little site called Hipster Branding that ‘rebrands’ well known companies with a little ‘hipster’ pastiche and it’s pretty dead on. Is it good you might ask? Well it’s hip.
We’ve had the shear pleasure of working with illustrator Andrew Holder in the past and we are big fans of his work. He has a simple but inarguably classic style that walks the line between fine art and illustration. He’s an absolute professional to work with and he’s recently updated his website so if you are in the market for something unique, it’s a good time to give the man a call. Great work Andrew.
Pooya Abbasian sent in a recent music video created for Birdpen’s single ‘Nature Regulate’. The video involved some simple but super fun character design and it’s even more fun to watch.

Estudio Vixen is the design studio of Alba Plaza based in the amazing city of Barcelona (I am dying to get back there soon). He’s involved in several interesting projects and has the simple but slick presentation of his work dialed in tight.
Madrid-based motionographer Helio Vega has returned to the freelance world and recently posted an updated reel. His work is still looking pretty fresh and he’s showing little signs of stopping.
Again here we go with another amazing student project this time by Jacob Streilein as a part of his studies at Cal Arts. There is a wonderful style represented here and the animation isn’t too shabby either. Keep an eye on Jacob. (Give us a call when you are out my friend).

I am a big fan of Beach House and thought their last album was fan-friggin-tastic. This brilliant recent video directed by Sean Pecknold makes me even more excited about what’s yet to come.
Here is a wild stop-motion animation piece created for Hilary Hahn and Hauschka’s single “Bounce Bounce” from their album Silfra.
Also, you can check out this short film about the process involved in the creative of this crazy video as directed by Danny Gregory and Tommy Kane.
And here’s a couple more process links while we are at it here and here.
The footage in this video is derived from image sequences from NASA’s Cassini and Voyager missions. I downloaden a large amount of raw images to create the video.
The song is The Cinematic Orchestra -That Home (Instrumental).
