“After being a foreigner in different countries, mainly Montreal and The Nederlands, Frédérique Daubal is now biking in Paris. Coming from a graphic design background, she works as a freelance creative for small and big clients worlwide. she also experiments with textile as a 3 dimensional medium, or creates products under her name, without following any trends but using lots of second hand pieces since the beginning in 2001. Personnal art work or collaborations with people and magazines mostly for experimental ideas, installation or exhibitions.”
I can’t really take a stab at describing Frédérique Daubal’s work and that’s why I just pasted in some of the about copy from her site. All I can say is that it is unusual and very intriguing. I am not entirely sure what to file it under and I like that.

Auckland, New Zealand based design agency Everything has updated with some exceptional branding work. Overall, they keep things simple, bright and sharp. I just stumbled upon the work of Cristiana Couceiro again today and was once again super impressed by her work. She has found an interesting space between mid-century and international typographic style that seems to somehow work perfectly. She is sticking to her guns on maintaining that style as well much to the chagrin of the design community I am sure. It would be great to see her start up a store where some prints of her work could be made available too. I’d imagine they’d do well on the walls of a mid-century styled home or office.

Romanian designer Stefan Lucut is someone I am always keeping an eye on. He’s always doing something completely different from whatever it is that he just did last. And that is a quality I admire very much, especially in an industry where people like to put designers and illustrators into clearly definable silos that they can call up whenever they are looking for a particular ‘style’. Stefan also helps run my favorite image blog ‘Baubauhaus‘ which is updated regularly with some fantastic design, illustration an typography examples. It’s a genuine source of inspiration that I check on a daily basis. Keep an eye on Stefan, there’s no telling what he will do next.
The illustrator living in the lower Haight going by the name ‘Skinny Ships’ has updated his Flickr-folio as of yesterday with some new and extremely fun to look at typography.
