These Soundsick club flyers designed by the Spanish Art Director/Designer who goes by the name Velckro are just pure pop video game-inspired candy. How can you not love them. For lack of a better way to phrase it, they are simply ‘bad ass’. You can see more of Velckro’s art at both his personal site and in his Behance-folio.

“Sicksystems is a personal art project of a Moscow-based graphic artist Aske. Though initially founded in 2003 as a graffiti crew, over the years the Sicksystems evolved into a versatile creative trio, and in 2009 it became a personal project of its founder and the most active member Aske. This site displays only Aske’s personal works.
Aske started his artistic career in 2000 as a graffiti writer, and soon enough he got involved in graphic design, modern graphics, illustration, typography and many more. He is also a Co-Founder and Editor in Chief of the best Russian graffiti magazine CODE RED.”
Aske has just updated his site with some new and very stylistic work. He has taken a new approach lately that you can see represented in his most recent illustration works. He has also recently banged out some project work for Nike and Stussy. His work made a big splash when it first hit the net a year or so back and he is still one to watch in the future.

Illustrator Aurélien Arnaud is one half of studio PNTS. He has an interesting style that is somewhat reminiscent of Jesse Auersalo or what Theo Gennitsakis has been up to lately. The imagery appears as though it was created digitally but still possesses a tangible quality comparable to a pencil drawing. I am not entirely sure, nor do I particularly care who was the originator or this illustrative style. I feel like all 3 of these artists are doing something a little different with it and I like it.

Well next week will somewhat unofficially mark our first week as a fully functioning design studio. I am being joined by some very amazing people whom I did not expect to be embarking on this journey with so early on. We will be capable in graphic design, motion graphics, illustration, branding, art direction, package design and web design. We are all really excited for what the future may bring.
We finally finished painting this week and had some really great lighting installed. The cabinets, countertops and baseboard molding are being installed next week. After that we are officially finished with the studio renovations. I will upload some pictures when all is complete.
I snapped a quick little iPhone pic of my desk for now. And yes, that is my original Castle Grayskull from childhood sitting next to my teen bodybuilding trophy. If you are interested in hiring us for a project, I’d be happy to open up Castle Greyskull so we can get in a nice He Man playtime session while I tell you all about my brief foray into bodybuilding. That should be enough to make you interested in commissioning us right off.

Wow was I impressed by everything happening at Toykyo today. I have been looking a lot more deeply into studios that I consider a model for what we would like to achieve and how we would like to position ourselves as we begin the Changethethought design studio. Toykyo is dead on as to how we would like to model ourselves. Their portfolio is as diverse and amazing as it comes. They think beyond client service producing not only merchandise that they sell themselves but also cultivating talent from other designers and artists commissioning them to produce creative goods. They serve as a great model for the modern day design and creative studio. Stumbling upon them today was a great surprise.

Swedish by origin but London based by choice illustrator Martin Nicolausson has a unique style that is somehow soft and gritty all at the same time. Although the works looks as though it may have been digitally finished there is still something tangible, almost graphite-pencil like about the work. It’s a style that has gotten him a lot of attention on creative blogs as of late. Regardless of the illustration attention, Nicolausson view himself first and foremost as a graphic designer and I think you can see that best not through his illustration work but his use of typography.
More please.

Chinese product designer Daizi Zheng created a range of healthy snacks packaged to look like drugs and junk food in order to encourage people to rethink their relationship between health and diet. The project features cigarette carrot sticks, blueberries in a pill blister pack and celery french fries. It’s a though provoking concept that deserves merit.

Yann AKA Blind Salida has updated with some fun and colorful new vector illustration work. There is some really nice contrast happening in some of the pieces between soft gradiation and simple line work.

“Keith Scharwath is an LA based designer, illustrator and art director who has been creating iconic works for the art, fashion, and music industries for the past 10 years. Notable projects include poster, title and promotional design for the 2008 film Beautiful Losers; exhibition design for Re-Run, a traveling art show curated by Aaron Rose; and most recently guest art directing the spring 2010 issue of GOOD magazine. Originally from New Jersey, Keith studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York.”
Keith has some beautiful work in his portfolio that exercises a high degree of understanding what it takes to move between curation and creation. His exhibition work is truly stunning.

It’s been a long time since I mentioned Robi Jõeleht but a visit to his portfolio today surprised me with some new work (at least work I haven’t yet seen) that I happened to like a lot. I was particularly fond of the typographical work. Keep it up Robi.

Matt Stevens decided to take a simple illustration of a Nike Air Max 1 sneaker and blow it out into an ongoing series of visual interpretations achieved via the style of his favorite designers and illustrators. It’s a great exercise that will no doubt teach him some key insights into the stylistic approaches of his muses. The Mark Weaver and Nicholas Felton pieces are spot on.
