LA-based designer, illustrator and artist Demetrius May has some sincerely radical work in one of the more wild portfolios I have seen in some time. There are some very strange things going on in his work but it is all art and I love that. He graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Since then, he has been making, like I said, some seriously radical work. It will be interesting to see what he does in the future.

Socio Design just emailed that they have posted new work in their updated website and it looks stunning. Socio Design is a London-based design consultancy specializing in graphic design, web design, art direction and branding. Their new site is clean and smooth and also stocked with equally clean and smooth portfolio work. Top notch all around. I was very pleased to get the email this morning. It sparked my inspiration for the day.

Jorge León is a graphic designer based in Las Palmas GC, Spain. He loves what he does for a living and is currently seeking new project work. He has some nice work in his book not the least of which includes the album cover above for Tits Like Buffalos. I can personally guarantee that is probably the best band name you will hear today.

Berlin-based André Gottschalk has a strong body of both design and illustration work. Rarely do you see someone so equally rounded at both disciplines as both sides of the spectrum in his portfolio are worth looking into. He is definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Counter-Objects is the sister store to Counter-Print and features some equally thoughtfully curated art and design goodies that I am sure a lot of us would love to get our hands on. There are some posters available from some my favorite designers and illustrators that I didn’t even realize were still in circulation. I discovered the site via a link back to Changethethought and for that I thank them very much.

It’s been a very long while since I last dropped in on the work of former Designers Republic member Martin Fewell. He has since been busy working on all sorts of new projects for his Manchester-based studio Yolo and you can view the results of his labor via a long scroll at his blog-style portfolio site

Family has updated with a new website. Honestly though, I can’t quite tell how much, if any of the work is new. I am a fan of their work, hence the post. So, if you have yet to browse their portfolio, consider this an excuse.

Ventilate asked several artists to participate in their recent poster series with the theme ‘2000’. The idea being, ‘what inspired you a decade ago’. I still find it hard to believe that 10 years have passed since the start of the new millenium. The posters are available to download at 300 dpi via YouSendIt. Once again, Joshua Smith (Hydro74) put in a strong showing with a stark graphic vector poster of Darth Vader. That man just knows what he does and does it well.
