I just can’t get enough of Leif Podhajsky and I don’t think I am the only one. It doesn’t make it easier that he is continually producing work from Tame Impala who has been one of my favorite bands in the past couple of years. They are lucky to have employed his skills while they could still afford them. He’s updated yet again with more work for the band that is again simple yet inspiring. I’d love a print of the above image.

“Jamie Wieck is a design factotum; he is a designer who illustrates, an illustrator who directs and a director who writes. He is member of the cross-discipline design studio Airside.”
As could be expected from such a succinct, clever and intelligent description you will find more of the same in Wieck’s portfolio of project work.

Curt Melo is passionate about editorial illustration and by that he means he loves not just to create imagery for editorial use but create imagery that tells a story. He has a definite style but that style is employed to empower the image and communicate that story the end result of which is art.

Aside from having quite possibly one of the most clever names I have run across in quite some time, bay area based design studio Made Service also has a strong portfolio of work that includes a healthy dose of both illustration and design. They also have an appreciation for extremely well made sandwiches.

“Silver Screen Society is a group of designers and friends that work toward creating art and designs honoring the many stories told through the world of cinema. The project’s roots lie in the book clubs of yore, with each month bringing a new film and cast of contributors that carry with them their own unique interpretations and ideas.’
Hopefully these will someday be printed although rights issues associated with film are notoriously sticky.

Brighton-based illustrator Matthew James Taylor has a way with negative space and minimal vector art. The two combine to generate some memorable imagery that although may be designed with simplicity in mind leaves a complex and emotive impression on the viewer.

Illustrator and artist Yana Moskaluk has updated with some exceptional new imagery. I’ve posted Moskaluk’s work before but was pleased to see some new things happening but if I could be so bold, I still wish the images were just a bit larger.

“Bayo’s work depicts cheerless and melancholic worlds, where the main character is the psyque, as an epicenter of implosion and confrontation among the diverse layers of the subconscious level. Sometimes euphoric, sometimes epic, sometimes psychotic, his draw denotes such a trajectory where we are constantly infected with the deepest anxiety. His characters tend to avoid frontal sight, just like whoever notices contact as a mere exposition of his/her own fragility. Just as much as the arbitrariness of his forms allow us to see that he pays no devotion to the statutes of reason. His pieces travel throughout the harshness of obsessive details, the vagueness of repetition, and the sudden outbreak of movement. All of this in order to express the architecture of his emotions, with such a complexity that can’t be put as subtle.” -Evan Rodd
