“Process Journal – a quarterly design publication, which showcases the very best of Australian and International design. Edition One features: Re-public, 3 Deep Design, Unit Editions, Heydays, Norm, Hofstede, Spin, Kim Holtermand, Mainstudio, South South West, Kleber, Tim George and Cartlidge Levene. As well as design responses from Dominic Hofstede (Hofstede Design) and Matt Judge (Design Assembly). Process Journal is designed and produced in Melbourne Australia. ”
I received a note about Process Journal this morning and it looks like an exceptional no frills creative publication featuring some equally no frills exceptional talent. The effort that went into creating a clean and easy to navigate website to showcase Process Journal bodes well for the quality of the publication. The journal is also a featured project on the K.W.Doggget Fine Paper website.
It’s still nice to see small scale publishers taking on print against the internet tsunami. There is much to be said for holding, keeping and archiving a printed publication especially for use as inspiration within a studio’s library.

Craig Oldham is a Yorkshire born, bred and idealistically realistic Retired football player turned professional Graphic Designer who is now based in Manchester. He recently put together a series of maxims accompanied by essays called 10 Penneth that he hands out to students when speaking about graphic design.
A little more on the project from the designer himself:
“10 Penneth (if you’re not sure what I mean by penneth follow this little asterisk sitting on the shoulder of this*) is an accompaniment to a lecture series that I have given to students of Graphic Design and takes the form of ten (for lack of a better word—and I can’t understand why there isn’t one) maxims. These maxims take the form of short essays, each one being a lesson that’s an important thing to learn in order to help the students become better Graphic Designers, and in order for them to better understand the profession in which they are entering.”

Hey Ho is a Paris based design studio founded 2007 by Julien Hourcade and Thomas Petitjean. They have some exceptional work for print, editorial and branding in their new yet already mature portfolio. It appears as though someone in their office works sitting at a ping pong table. Maybe that is the secret in their sauce.

“The Official Manufacturing Company is Mathew Foster, Fritz Mesenbrink & Jeremy Pelley. We are thing makers, simply put. After having separately worked for some years at Wieden+Kennedy and Ace Hotel, then out on our own freelancing, we wound up in a studio together and realized how much better it could be.”
OMFGCO sent in their exceptional portfolio of design and branding work today. I was not only impressed by the work but inspired by the above words considering their employment at the amazing W+K and especially in lieu of recently launching my own studio after having left a wonderful agency myself.

“Duane King is a designer, thinker & writer.”
King’s thinking aligns his highly considered design work and it is exhibited beautifully in the same fashion as the recently relaunched website Thinking For A Living coded by CSS master and in-and-out sometimes Denver local Ian Coyle.

“TrustoCorp is a New York based artist (or artists) dedicated to highlighting the hypocrisy and hilarity of human behavior through sarcasm and satire. TrustoCorp targets areas in the public domain typically reserved for messages of trust and authority and subverts them with messages of mayhem and absurdity hijacked from the visual style of our authorities.”
TrustoCorp recently stocked some local store shelves with fake products in line with their above manifesto. I remember some guy stocking local Denver stores with fake Gatorade bottle that said something utterly meaningless about Tiger Woods. That was the wrong way to do something like this. Trustocorp has done it right.

Chicago gig poster makers Delicious Design League have updated with a new website and online store bursting with fantastic posters. Strangely the site still has no portfolio section completed but you can still see a lot of the work via the storefront.

It has been a very long time since I have visited the portfolio of designer/illustrator Théo Gennitsakis. His work has grown immensely as he has moved around Europe and he is now the Creative Director for LA SURPRISE Paris. His work has become simpler in it’s execution but much more rich in terms of it’s content. I can’t wait to see what he does in the future.

Over 500 works from the legendary Dutch graphic designer Wim Crouwel have been gathered here. Each piece can be viewed individually and zoomed in to look at a larger scale. It’s the holy grail of graphic design and if you are unfamiliar with Crouwel’s work, spend some quality time picking through it. This is inspiration guaranteed.

Polish graphic designer/illustrator Michal Bialogrzywy has a totally insane set of posters up in his Behance-folio that is guaranteed to inspire those leaning toward the vector scale.
