‘In August’ is a fifteen minute short film utilizing both 2D and 3D animation which took nearly two years to create. The film was written and directed by Andrés Barrientos and Carlos Andrés Reyes and produced by Daniel García. Oruga served as the Executive Producer Pedro Tosin with music composed by Sergio A. Trujillo and the band Sinapis.
Lucas Bueno de Camargo has updated his ongoing artistic experimentation site at Untitled Army with new, wild, imaginative, colorful and psychedelic illustrations.
“A Beast Every Week is an illustrative collective inspired by the bestiary of yore. Every week a different illustrator will compose a new illustration of a beast, creature, monster, etc. from their own unique perspective.
A new Illustration will be added every Monday.”
Our friends at Legwork here in Denver just keep kicking ass. They are super good at what they do and they are good guys to boot. Our studio is really proud to call these guys friends and we couldn’t be happier that they are here in Denver and are putting great work out there. It’s a good thing for all of us. This piece is a little older and was created for the Colorado Lottery under the creative direction of local ad agency Cactus. This is by far one of our favorite pieces Legwork has done over this past year and we were really inspired by it.
I haven’t checked in on Brazilian motion designer Thiago Oliveira in a long time but since my last visit he has updated with some beautiful and etherial new work all under his great monicker ‘Love Machine‘.
It’s been a while since we dropped in on Blind Salida but he’s kept busy and recently updated with a fresh cache of richly detailed and colorful vector illustrations.
It’s a pencil celebration bitches. Everyone have a good time. This fun little retro throwback is the official video for ‘Pencil Revolution’ by SCHRADINOVA, taken from the album ‘India Lima Oscar Victor Echo You’.
I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t know how into the video I am but I do really like the song.

Hydro 74 has stepped into the print game in a big way with some great posters that are currently for sale at his online storefront for very reasonable prices especially considering that they are silkscreened. He also has a new poster releasing with Burlesque of North America.
Laika has been busy lately and has updated with some excellent new motion design work that relies on some amazing illustration and 3D work. They are doing some spectacular work lately and definitely worth keeping an eye on.
In case you missed it, ISO50 updated with some tasty new prints including some collaboration work with Seth Haley (Com Truise). Scott Hansen’s work continues to inspire.
Stephen Kelleher who I think used to call himself ‘Frankenstyles’ just updated with some colorful, simple but fun illustration work that relies heavily on a strong sense of graphic design.
Japan Cinema has posted an insightful interview with illustrator Shan Jiang that is worth a read. He’s a talented guy and a driving force behind one of our favorite studios.
I’ve posted their work before but one of my favorite print shops recently updated their storefront with some excellent new prints. I am really thinking about plunking down a little money on these for my son’s room. They are super cool, cute but not dumb if you know what I mean. Just a perfect blend of imagination, pop and attitude.
There is some tasty stuff on Takuya Hosogane’s reel. There is a flair for using simple elements to generate a rich and organic visual.
Have you heard of Black Swan yet? Oh no? They are a motion design powerhouse established by quite possibly some of the most talented young motion designers on the West Coast. And they are already kicking ass and taking names. They might not have a ton of work on their site yet, but trust me they are working on some amazing projects. Keep an eye firmly planted on this studio in the future. They are just getting started and I am already expecting some phenomenal work.
It’s always refreshing to see a simple concept done in a practical way using modern technology to generate an original result as is the case in the music video for BELL.
