Gui Borchert is currently a Creative Director at at Syrup New York where he has been for the past year and a half. Before landing there he worked at Mother New York for two years and also did a 4 year stint at R/GA. I remember a very very long time ago when I occasionally blogged for Design is Kinky, Gui came on board and also posted a link or two from time to time. He has come a long way since and his recent campaign for Puma got me really excited for the upcoming 2010 World Cup.
I have been shopping lately for a new Brazilian jersey and haven’t purchased one yet (my wife is Brazilian and not rooting for Brazil would mean a beheading at the hands of her and my inlaws). I get one during every World Cup but keep forgetting it is only a few weeks off. My DVR is gonna be full up here soon and I will be putting on at least 5 pounds of beer weight at a minimum.
So Gui, next time I finally get up to New York (hopefully for project work) I am buying you a Harp and we can rock our jerseys together. Joga bonito!

Finnish designer Johannes Ekholm presents his portfolio in a super simple no BS kind of way and in a simple no BS kind of way he is a very good graphic designer and art director. He’s represented by Pekka Finland.
SBSS which I think sometimes stands for ‘Space Based Space Surveillance’ is also the name of Russian graphic designer and illustrator Sergey Sbss. He takes a ‘geometric-pop’ approach to his work that results in some eye candy colorways.
Rosie Lees is a London based design consultancy with some nice work for Nike. The poster above requires a second look to capture the twisted turning runner filled roadscapes.
Ooh I am really digging some of the print work designed by Phil Armson. He is very good with color and isn’t afraid to experiment with typography. Slick.

Polish design studio Ah & Oh has put together a nice little spec concept for mens cologne featuring some notable historic writers in the shape of an inkwell for a quill. It’s a slick looking set of packaging and it would be interesting to see one on an actual shelf in a retail environment.

Brooklyn based freelance artist & designer Salvatore Dell’Aquila aka Salvation Design sent word about a recent cover he illustrated for Computer Arts UK. Justin David Cox is a designer and illustrator living in the Lone Star State of Texas. He is a part of the creative collective Public School based in Austin. He has a very small but very smart portfolio of poster work. The above image is for a poster for the band ‘Cut Copy’. Get it?
You just have to hand it to Network Osaka, he just keeps giving you a reasons like this to stay tuned in to his particular channel in the Flickr Photostream.
Andreas Pihlström has updated his sublime portfolio at Suprb with a new look and of course some excellent work but for some reason I was drawn to his ‘dynamic music video’ generated for his friend Alexi Delano’s track RUN-00. But to be honest, you can’t really go wrong with anything in Pihlström’s body of work.
