Dwell Magazine is now offering a series of limited edition prints from some notable artists, illustrators and designers. The list of names involved includes some of my personal favorites like Mario Hugo, Mike Perry and Steven Harrington
Artist and illustrator Jasper Goodall has started selling prints via his website and has a deal on the above set. The prints themselves are a little pricey but they are being released in very limited quantities and if you are a devout fan of his work, it might be a rare opportunity to hang some of his unique imagery in your living space or studio.
Sam Green has updated yet again with more exceptional illustration work. It appears as though he also updated his website as well (going the Cargo route). I have to admit that I am becoming a huge fan of Green’s work. He’s definitely one of my favorites from the last few years. He keeps getting better and his work continues to mature and become more interesting.
Mexican illustrator Neto Zamora has some super fun imagery in his Behance-folio. He also breaks down the process from the original sketch to the final product which is an inspiring thing to sort through and might plant an idea or two for the would-be illustrator/designer.
Talented artist/illustrator McBess cranks out a live drawing for Inkygoodness 4 “PLAY” and through the magic of video you all get to watch. I really like his style a lot.
I dropped in on the Artcrank poster show this weekend which is currently exhibiting at the Lisa Koslowski Gallery until next Saturday. There were some excellent posters in the show this year, and I purchased two from some local friends of mine. I purchased Ctt blogger and Legwork partner Aaron Ray’s poster as well as Anthony Cozzi’s. I was really blown away by Anthony’s poster. The screens were air tight and the use of color was used to great effect. If you have a chance this week and are here in Denver definitely stop by the gallery if you are looking to pick up some unique pieces of art.

I have seen and I believe I have posted the design work/illustration work of Eli Horn before but only recently discovered his artistic talent. He has some excellent paintings and illustrations in his portfolio that really exemplify some genuine talent.
Photographer Hermione Hodgson has a trendy urban eye and is also not afraid to be bold with her use of color which always plays a strong role in her compositions. She is an accomplished artist having worked with some of the UK’s best advertising agencies.
Artist David Platt paints pattern-like compositions primarily in black and white but I was most drawn to the above colorful piece.
Alright, this will be pulled within the next 36-72 hours since it’s not an official release from MGMT’s record label but the psychedelic rockers have put out this super trippy new video. It’s the best song on their new album by far in my opinion so I was pleased to see they produced a video for it. Enjoy it while you can, I will pull the post after the video goes down but repost after their is a more official release.
Illustrator Nathan Manire reached out to inform us that he has updated his portfolio with more of his intricate portrait work. This time the update comes with an illustration of famed basketball giant Lebron James who made a lot of people happy this year and also pissed off an entire city/state upon his recent decision to uproot. It’s crazy how much his likeness has popped up recently in design and illustration circles. The economy he has fueled around himself and his career is impressive.
Yes the work of Roxanne Jackson will disturb you. That is what it is meant to do. After you are disturbed and while your interest has been peaked, if you can get past the raw emotion you will also realize she is a very talented artist capable of working fluidly with several mediums.
Jackson on her work, “I am concerned with confronting the shadows of the unconscious, having a dialogue with the grotesque and, therein, discovering beauty. The tenor of my work is macabre and emotional as I deal with extreme axioms to dramatize the dualities of our nature; these polar aspects reside within us and include vulnerability and strength, the light and the dark, the human and the inhuman.”
Photographer Kate Peters wrote us to let us know she updated both her website and portfolio with more of her subtle and contemplative work. She has a real eye for the world and knows how to gather both unique people and places within lovely compositions.
Korean illustrator (now lives in NYC) Tae Querney wrote us to inform us she updated her website and portfolio with new works. She has a soft and whimsical style that maintains it’s human touch even after retouching. We like her work.
Wow, I was very impressed by this live rendering of calligraphic type by Luca Barcellona for the Legacy of Letters italian tour, organized by Paul Shaw. Gorgeous work and amazing skills. Where do you learn to do something like that?
Chicken Billy is artist and designer Billy Hayes hailing from Fort Worth, Texas. He has an unusual and highly recognizable style using aggressive color schemes with arranged flat graphic ‘puzzle’ pieces. This is how he describes his work: “The recipe – Take Hanna Barbera, Hulk Hogan, James Brown, Fort Worth Zoo, B.B. King, Hank Williams III and Jesus Christ, mix until the image is bright like a angel. Add a pair of cowboy boots and jeans, some Mexican beer, your choice, and put it all on a page using only flat vector shapes.”
His work is impossible not to like and ready made for t-shirt art. The best way to take in his work is by perusing his Flickr-folio which he updates regularly.
The Best Made Company is at it again making beautiful things that designers and artist alike will certainly desire. This time they have screened their trademark ‘X’ over a series of maps. The result is a guaranteed unique piece of art. I was thinking it would be nice if you could also mail them a map that they would print over and then send back to you. Just an idea but I love this series. Beautifully simple idea resulting in beautiful art.
Photographer Jan Otto Schreiber bought a ticket to travel on a cargo ship to Australia last year and embarked upon a two month odyssey before reaching shore. While on board he photo-documented to trip in a series he titled ‘Somewhere Between the Shores’. The result is some beautifully contemplative imagery that will definitely pull the Mark Twain heart strings in the under-traveled heart. I’d love to take a similar journey but alas between home, new business and baby-on-the-way I will have to photo journal an entirely different trip.
