Hydro 74 has stepped into the print game in a big way with some great posters that are currently for sale at his online storefront for very reasonable prices especially considering that they are silkscreened. He also has a new poster releasing with Burlesque of North America.

Japan Cinema has posted an insightful interview with illustrator Shan Jiang that is worth a read. He’s a talented guy and a driving force behind one of our favorite studios.
I’ve posted their work before but one of my favorite print shops recently updated their storefront with some excellent new prints. I am really thinking about plunking down a little money on these for my son’s room. They are super cool, cute but not dumb if you know what I mean. Just a perfect blend of imagination, pop and attitude.
Illustrator Angie Wang has updated with some psychedelic, kinetic and vibrantly colorful imagery that is spilling over with energy.
Wow, this is a pretty kick ass little gallery of famous skeletons available in the Flickrfolio of MOTO. I can’t tell you much about MOTO but what I can tell you is that this series of images is super fun.
Michael Marsicano is an ‘enthusiastic purveyor of embellished realities seeks like-minded, inspired patrons’. Enthusiastic is definitely the word as his illustration work is absolutely inspired and infused with a vibrant and kinetic passion. Keep an eye on Michael and his excellent work.
Mondo released two new silkscreened movie posters last week, one of which included this poster by our recent interviewee Martin Ansin. We were lucky enough to grab a copy but were really amazed by the detail of the illustration. Martin told us to keep an eye out for what he would be up to later this year and we were really stunned by his work for this poster. We think it’s some of his best work to date. We can’t wait to frame and hang this one.
The variant version of the poster uses actual hieroglyphs that were confirmed as accurate by a top researcher in the field. Unfortunately, both versions of the poster are sold out but you can always take a shot at eBay.
“Cezar Berger aka Berje was born in the 90’s, is an illustrator and graphic design student at the Centro Universitário Belas Artes. Inspired by skate culture, DIY, thrash metal, hip hop and the latent violence of life. In his art synthesizes elements in a constant rage state, creating nostalgic compositions and giving new meaning to the signs. Berje creates a repertoire that includes alchemy, black magic, tarot, the new dark age, mayhem and a lot of puke.”
Fun, tongue in cheek and very colorful work from Berje.
Illustrator Olaf Hajek has a loose, painterly and interpretive style that he crafts to suite the requirements of each project. His work runs through nearly every emotion from light and dreamy to moody and dark.
Pratt graduate Sachin Teng lives in NYC and has some wonderful illustrations in his portfolio that blend a mix of influences, styles and references to modern technological culture that definitely peak the interest in his work. This is some of the best stuff I have seen in the past couple of weeks.
Popshot Magazine has set up a print shop and has stocked up with some nice giclée prints from some excellent artists like Sam Green and My Dead Pony. They are limited to runs of 150 and fairly reasonably priced if you live across the pond.
Safewalls has been releasing some limited edition prints for Cirque du Soleil over the past few months. They have more expensive deluxe prints but also less expensive limited run prints from each artist. There are some great artists involved with the project like Ron English, Miss Van and Tara Mcpherson. The above image is from Ron English’s poster.
Mario Hugo has kept busy with multiple ventures in New York lately but not too busy to update his personal portfolio which he recently did. There are some, as always striking new images in his portfolio earmarked for 2011.
Jesse Tise earned his BFA in illustration from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena and has since developed a strange, loose and printerly personal style that has stretched across various mediums for multiple applications.
Illustrator Kristina Collantes has made some big updates to her portfolio since I last dropped in and her work has taken a leap. She keeps refining her skills and broadening her range while keeping her whimisical style. I am enjoying some of her recent work very much.
Illustrator Sam Green has updated with a new website and a few new images of illustration created for recent projects. I am still loving what he is producing.
