“Californian based artist and illustrator Patrick Hruby joins the Wanderlust fold with two high impact graphical pieces. With 4 weekly appearances in the New York Sunday Times beginning this Sunday Patrick is fast becoming a highly sort after contemporary creative.”
Artist Eric Yahnker has updated with some new and oh-so-very strange psychedelic charcoal drawings. I just kind of got caught up in staring at the above image just trying to decipher what I was seeing in my mind. Yahnker possesses a not only an impressive talent but a truly unique imagination.
Alex Freund has some new photographs in his portfolio in the soft, supple and sexy shades of summer. Freund is a true artist behind the camera blurring the lines between art and fashion.
Comments Off on Sixpack France – Zawada ZineGraphic Design
Sixpack France was kind enough to ship me a copy of a 64 page zine featuring the work of Australian Graphic Designer and Illustrator Jonathan Zawada. The copy is sitting on my desk now as a source of inspiration. The zine is titled “Can The Drummer Give Some More” and is printed on an oversized format of 24x32cm.
I am a big fan of Zawada’s work and there are some silky smooth drawings in the zine that I really appreciated. It’s an attractive piece of work and very high quality for a zine. I highly recommend checking it out if you are at all interested in Zawada’s work. It was a nice way to get my hands on something tangible that had multiple examples of his unique artwork in a large format on heavy paper.
You can purchase the zine here for 25 Euro and check out more of Zawada’s work at his personal website.
Jimmy Zombie is an illustrator with a unique individual style and perspective that recalls a bit of 60’s psychedelia but is achieve most likely through vector art. It always makes you look twice and would be killer hanging on a wall or adorning a tee shirt.
Comments Off on David Benjamin Sherry: UpdatesPhotography
NY based photographer and Yale graduate David Benjamin Sherry has updated with several new images for 2010, all of which are strange, psychedelic and introspective. His work continues to evolve and I would imagine he will be lining up the exhibitions in the future.
It is almost impossible to believe Norwegian photographer Ole Thomas is only 18 years old. He has an eye for imagery years beyond his age and captures provocative artistic imagery that a seasoned photographer would kill for. Keep your eye on this amazing talent.
Texan photographer Mikaylah Bowman is an artist. There is no mincing words about that. She has an unusual eye for composition and experiments with her subjects to create sometimes eerie, psychedelic and disturbing and yet at other times highly cosmic and contemplative imagery. All of which is art.
Feral Kid is the art work of João Ruas who was born in São Paulo, Brazil. After a stint in London from 2004 to 2007 he is now home again in São Paulo but has been exhibiting internationally. You can view his feminine form inspired surrealism at both his website and in his Flickr-folio.
Comments Off on Lenancker Romain: UpdatesPhotography
French Art Director, Set Designer and Photographer Lenancker Romain has updated with a few new images that continue to bend the line between commercial work and art work.
Australian graffiti artist Numskull has continued updating his site with more examples of his sarcastic pop culture clash artwork that mixes typography, comic and cartoon imagery we all love and fear. If you are unfamiliar with his work you can read an interview with him at Side Street Sydney that gets into his process and the psychology behind his imagery. You can also purchase posters of his Wooden Toy Publishing and Stupid Krap.
I am a big fan of his work. His use of typography is of particular interest to me but the mixing of ‘pop/comic type’ with comic book and cartoon figures is just brilliant.
‘Fun’ is pretty much the operative word when describing the work of Mike Dornseif. However, he is equally equipped to get serious when it comes to logo design.
Photographer Frankie Nazardo’s work can be strange and dark but also whimsical capturing fluttering moments that most people would miss. There is no denying his work as art.
Joshua Hoffine is a self-proclaimed ‘horror photographer’ and he isn’t messing around. His work will shock and quite possibly inspire a bit of sincere fear. His use of children in his imagery is particularly disturbing but there is no arguing his vision.
Stanford educated artist Tauba Auerbach has stayed busy updating with more interesting work. She continues to reexamine her mediums producing 2 dimensional trompe l’oeil paintings that although completely flat look as though they are created with raised folds in paper. Personally, I was particularly interested in the visuals she has achieved using acrylic and glass on panel.
